We were lucky to catch up with Jeffro Hollington recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeffro, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with what makes profitability in your industry a challenge – what would you say is the biggest challenge?
It can be a challenge to make a profit selling art. it’s expensive to sell art . You have to make sure you are getting the best prices on supplies so you can sell and still make some money . I do a lot of art festivals and it seems all I do is put more money into a better tent , the right walls , signage , marking supplies there is always something you can upgrade when doing art festivals, which eats away at profit.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I was born and raised in upstate New York. Graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration. From the time I could pick up a crayon I was drawing on anything and everything. Inspired by my grandfather Bill who was a carpenter and artist. I would run into my grandfather’s workshop/studio to see what new wonderful projects and works of art he had created. This led to my philosophy and mission, to put a smile on the faces of the viewers of my work. The goal is to make sure no wall gets left behind (No Empty Walls).
I have a strong background of drawing and painting. so I do not spend a lot of time drawing the painting before I start. I like to jump right in and use paint to sketch on the canvas. The painting has a life and progression. A painting grows and changes. Photographing the progress of each painting so
I can view the process. It’s also fun to see how it changes from start to finish. Bold strokes, clean colors and finishes with smaller fine lines and details.
Through the years I’ve developed a signature style and creates subject matter with use of color to come alive. The materials and mediums consist of acrylics, oils, watercolor and mixed media on canvas or wood.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
I like to meet people face to face so the best source to new clients is Art festivals and Live painting events.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
social media is key and its so important to keep up with it. QR code is now permanent fixture in my art show booth.
