Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jeffery Osei-Yaw. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jeffery, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.
What I differently form the industry standard as afar as photography is the creation of Edgy images by merging beauty with desolation or bringing the beauty out of desolation using lighting, whether natural or artificial.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into the photography industry through having the foundation of an art background , which includes drawing, painting, graphic design and architecture. The fundamental rules of art ( light, shadow , perspective , color, etc. ) is what I used when approaching photography. What I learned differently with photography is that, it is a field of art where we paint what we see with lighting just as in actual painting, we create a colorful composition with a brush. The kind of photography I create is to give the viewer the look of a painting without overly manipulating the outcome of the image but creating the image solely for the proper use of exposure and lighting (natural/artificial Lighting). My style is inspired by Jason Lanier & Miguel Quiles, two of my favorite photographers. What sets me apart from the industry is that I use my knowledge of lighting to bring vibrancy out of the most dull sceneries ( landscapes, Portraits, weddings etc) for the viewer to be able to put themselves into that scene while looking at the image. An artist should be able to see better in the result other than what’s being seen in actuality. This is where delivering and exceeding my clients expectations comes into play. My goal is to always bring into life for my client to appreciate themselves in a different way they have never done in my images. I am mostly proud of the process I go through in improving my craft as a photographer or as a still imagery artist. Practicing is how I stay ahead of what I do. With the line of clientele I have, I still find time to practice and improve my skills.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The goal or the mission is to share with the world how my eyes see the world my camera lenses.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The Most effective strategy in growing my clientele is being different, and being different goes into the images I create, having a website, business cards /contacts and of course working on my social media presence especially Instagram. Instagram and my website are my two highest sources of my clientele. For Instagram, its all about being consistent and keeping your audience updated with some content and variety of content which helps my followers to see my versatility.
