Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jeffery Legree Jr. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Jeffery thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for Kali Elite Inc. was born out of a deep, personal connection to the struggles and gaps I experienced growing up in California. As a child, I often felt there was a lack of guidance and support systems that truly nurtured not just academic or athletic talent, but also the social, emotional, and moral growth that young people need to thrive. I knew that I wasn’t the only one feeling this—there were so many of us who were left without the right kind of support to reach our full potential. It always stuck with me, this feeling of wanting to give back what I didn’t receive. But at that time, I didn’t know how I’d do it.
Fast forward, as my boys—like Josiah—grew up, I began to see history repeating itself. It felt like déjà vu watching them face the same challenges and lack of resources in their environments that I had as a kid. It was at this point that the idea for Kali Elite Inc. started to take root. I couldn’t stand by and watch the cycle continue, not when I had the ability to do something about it. I realized it was time to make a change, not just for my sons but for the entire community.
The logic behind starting Kali Elite was simple: I saw a need that wasn’t being addressed. Too many organizations focus solely on one aspect of development, like academics or sports, but I knew from personal experience that true success comes when you nurture the whole person—physically, intellectually, socially, and morally. We needed an organization that not only trained young people to excel in sports or school but also helped them grow into empowered, compassionate leaders who are active participants in their own futures.
What got me most excited was the possibility of creating an organization where young people could find the mentorship, guidance, and support I didn’t have growing up. The idea of building something bigger than myself, something that would impact not just one generation but many to come, gave me a sense of purpose. I wanted to be there for these kids in a way that no one was there for me. And with the evolving landscape of technology and community needs, I saw the opportunity to create something cutting-edge, something that could keep pace with the changing times while staying true to core values of excellence, unity, and love.
Kali Elite Inc. became more than just a business—it became a mission to empower individuals and, in doing so, help build an enlightened world where people are in control of their own destinies.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Jeffery LeGree Jr., the CEO of Kali Elite Inc., and my journey into founding this organization is deeply rooted in my personal experiences growing up in California and the desire to create change where it’s most needed. Kali Elite is dedicated to the holistic development of young people, athletes, veterans, and the community as a whole. What sets us apart is our focus on nurturing the entire person—physically, intellectually, socially, and morally. We don’t just provide services, we provide transformation.
Growing up, I felt a lack of support and guidance that left me and many others around me without the tools we needed to succeed in life. As I became a father and watched my sons, like Josiah, grow up and face similar struggles, I felt like I was reliving my own childhood challenges. I realized that something had to change, and that’s when the idea for Kali Elite Inc. began to take shape. I wanted to provide a support system and opportunities for kids and communities that I didn’t have growing up. I wanted to make sure they had the mentorship, guidance, and opportunities to excel in all areas of life.
At Kali Elite, we provide a wide range of services, including youth development programs, athletic training, mentorship, educational support, and community outreach initiatives. Our approach is unique because we don’t just focus on one aspect of development—we believe in a well-rounded approach. We want our participants to grow into well-rounded individuals who are not only skilled in their respective fields but also confident, compassionate, and empowered to take control of their futures.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the impact we’ve had on our participants and the community. We’ve seen young athletes, students, and veterans transform their lives through our programs. They’ve gained skills, confidence, and a sense of purpose that goes beyond the court, classroom, or workplace. Seeing them succeed is what drives me every day.
What sets Kali Elite apart from other organizations is our unwavering commitment to our core values of excellence, unity, love, and community. We are deeply invested in every person who walks through our doors, and we see their potential even when they might not see it in themselves. We use cutting-edge, technologically advanced strategies to ensure our participants have access to the best tools and resources available, but at the heart of everything we do is compassion and care.
For anyone considering working with us, I want them to know that Kali Elite is about more than just athletic or academic success. We’re about building leaders, empowering individuals, and creating a lasting impact. We’re here to support and uplift, and we’re committed to helping people take control of their lives and their futures. Our goal is to create a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and become the best version of themselves. Whether you’re an athlete, a student, a veteran, or just someone looking to make a difference, we’re here to help you succeed.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Building Kali Elite Inc.’s reputation within our market has been a result of several key factors, all rooted in our deep commitment to the communities we serve. One of the most important aspects has been our consistent presence and active involvement in all communities—whether it’s with students, athletes, veterans, or underserved populations. We don’t just offer services and leave; we embed ourselves in the lives of the people we work with. This hands-on, compassionate approach has helped us build trust and credibility, which is the foundation of our reputation.
Our holistic approach to development has also played a significant role. Unlike many organizations that focus on one aspect—like academics or athletics—Kali Elite is dedicated to nurturing every dimension of a person. By offering programs that address physical, intellectual, social, and moral growth, we’re able to make a more significant, lasting impact on individuals. This approach sets us apart, and it’s one of the reasons people are drawn to our organization.
Another factor has been our unwavering commitment to excellence and community. We hold ourselves to the highest standards in everything we do, and that shows in the results we’ve achieved with our participants. Our focus on cutting-edge strategies and advanced technology, paired with a genuine love for the people we work with, has helped us stand out from others in the field.
Lastly, I think being deeply motivated by personal experiences has helped build Kali Elite’s reputation. People recognize that this organization was born out of a true desire to change lives—rooted in my own struggles and the desire to give back what I didn’t receive growing up. When people see that level of authenticity and passion, they know they’re part of something special.
Being active in all communities—whether local schools, youth sports leagues, or veteran support groups—has allowed us to become a trusted, visible presence. We’ve shown up time and again, proving that we’re here for the long haul, and that consistency has been key in building our reputation. We’re not just an organization; we’re a reliable partner in people’s lives, committed to helping them achieve their best selves.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the most important lessons I had to unlearn was the belief that I could only make a difference through traditional paths, like focusing solely on academics or sports. Growing up, I was conditioned to think that success was linear—you either excel in school or athletics, and that’s the only way to improve your life. But through my own experiences and watching my sons, like Josiah, grow up and face similar challenges, I realized that true growth is much more complex. People need support in all areas of life, not just one.
The backstory really began when I noticed that the same gaps I experienced as a child in California were reappearing in my boys’ lives. It was like déjà vu, and I found myself reflecting on how narrow the focus had been in my own upbringing—either you were a good student or a good athlete, but no one talked about mental health, emotional intelligence, or moral development. As a father, I could see the limitations of this thinking, and it hit me that I had to unlearn this narrow mindset to truly help others.
When I founded Kali Elite, I knew we had to offer more than just academic or athletic support. We needed to create a holistic program that nurtures physical, intellectual, social, and moral growth. This unlearning process allowed me to develop a more well-rounded approach to development—one that recognizes that success isn’t just about excelling in one area but about thriving in every aspect of life.
Unlearning that old belief opened the door to the mission we have now at Kali Elite: empowering individuals to become the best versions of themselves, not just on the court or in the classroom, but in life.
