Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jeff Steele. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jeff, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s talk about social media – do you manage your own or do you have someone or a company that handles it for you? Why did you make the choice you did?
When starting my company I knew it was essential to establish and maintain a marketing strategy, knowing that so much of today’s marketing takes place on social media. Social media strategy isn’t my strength and it’s also not something I was excited to invest the time in learning. Our current Director of Marketing is actually one of our close friends and she developed our brand book, website, and eventually, a social presence. Currently, we are collaborating with local influencers who want to share our homes and the story of our family business. We want The Steele Group name and logo to be synonymous with stunning, one of a kind homes and unmatched client experience, and Kelsie has brought that vision to life.
Jeff, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Jeff Steele, and I am the President of The Steele Group. We are a family owned custom home builder in Central Ohio with a passion for building heirloom quality homes where our clients can make memories for decades to come. We believe that the experience of building a custom home should be as enjoyable as living in it and part of what sets us apart is our commitment to integrity, collaboration and the belief that our clients come first.
I am proud of every single home we build. When we begin the process of building a new home we focus on not only delivering a high end product, but we also pay close attention to the flow of the home. Of course the aesthetic matters, but the layout also has to be practical for the specific needs of your family. We’re a family owned business and built our own home so we talk to our clients about their lifestyle, their needs, their hopes and dreams and build a home that is as unique as their family is. We know what it feels like to live in a house that truly feels like home and won’t settle for anything less for our clients.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
We are so grateful for the success we’ve had with word-of-mouth marketing. Our neighbors, friends, and the greater Columbus community have rallied around us and been a vital part of our growth and success. Last month two of our clients moved into their new homes with their families. Our clients are sisters who built their homes on two lots that share a backyard so that they could raise their families together. Those clients found us through the proverbial grapevine and now they’re our neighbors. To us that’s such a rich testament to the power of a vibrant community. 

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
We are continually building and growing our social media presence and choose to see social media as a place to collaborate with other creators. My wife regularly reminds me of the old saying “a rising tide lifts all ships.” Building our social media presence isn’t a project to complete, but an opportunity to connect with our local community in meaningful ways. On our social media profiles you’ll find photos of projects both completed and in progress, but that’s not all. We recently did an interview series introducing the team that keeps our business running. We share tips and ideas to consider when building or moving into a new home and occasionally you’ll see glimpses of our tiniest team members running around projects for “quality control”.
