We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jeannette Gogetter Chapman a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jeannette Gogetter thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of the most important things small businesses can do, in our view, is to serve underserved communities that are ignored by giant corporations who often are just creating mass-market, one-size-fits-all solutions. Talk to us about how you serve an underserved community.
There are many individuals and new businesses owners that are in need of services and education to assist in their start up and growth. I aim to educate, elevate and empower those who are most in need of help with their business journey. My goal is to not just assist people in starting their business, but to help them stay in business successfully.
Jeannette Gogetter , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Jeannette Chapman, however I go by Gogetter Jea, Gogetter which means ambitious individual who gets things done. I wanted a name and business that described me and Gogetter was it. I got into the business education and coaching field through my love of reading and writing and my work experience education assisted in my growth, It gave me the advantage to structure my business, stay organized and disciplined. I provide business education and services, motivational apparel, and coaching and mentorships to individuals, entrepreneurs and organizations. What sets me apart is my ability to connect with people in communities similar to the one like where I am from, the ability to speak and work with all ages and my compassion for the work that I do and the community I serve. I am grateful to be able to do what I love and love what I do and because of that I am able to better serve a community in need with patience, persistence and positivity.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
My story of how I build an audience on social media is call slow motion. I always say slow motion is better than no motion. Everyone is running a race and I made a choice to not compete and to work and run at my own pace. So I grew my audience while motivating myself using my daily go messages where I came online around 430AM daily and dropped a positive message and words of encouragement. What many; people didn’t know is that these messages were for me more than anything. I needed motivation and encouragement so literally I was talking to the inner me every day motivating myself to get and get out and do something. For anyone just starting to build their online presence, I encourage them to work at their own pace and simply stay consistent and most importantly remain authentically themselves. Through that process I believe they will find their people and grow at the right pace.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy to growing my clientele has been word of mouth, client referrals, touring. Word of mouth is so powerful, and I am blessed that majority of my clients refer others to me as well as they return as clients too. In addition, touring and speaking all over the United States have allowed me to grow my clientele and find what I consider my people. Those who need me most.
