We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jeanne Mae a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jeanne , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you have any thoughts about how to create a more inclusive workplace?
I’m a firm believer you need to meet people where they are. Once you understand everyone has a different way of processing information it will be a lot easier to meet employee’s/clients were they’re at and achieve the goal together. No-one enjoys working in a hostile environment where you are constantly being reprimanded for not getting the job done to an unrealistic expectation Set before you. Nor does anyone enjoy being belittled. At the end of the day, hardly anyone will remember what you told them but people will Always remember how you made them feel which is why my number one rule of business is treat others the way you would like to be treated; and I know that sounds so silly but it’s true. If you show kindness and compassion 9 times out of 10 it will be reciprocated and that 1 time it isn’t, well that’s just a learning opportunity.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I started Mae Bae 2 years ago with the vision to help people achieve their full potential and achieve their dreams. I have been internationally published in over 100 magazines, I’ve also walked in many different fashion shows. Drawing upon my vast experience I have developed my own curriculum to assist aspiring models. with Mae Bae I lay the ground work for both men and women with one on one coaching sessions, in-depth posing classes and runway techniques to help you grow and succeed with an extraordinary model resume. I am the Executive Producer of the massively successful event MB Fashion Show which showcases designers from Jamaica, Africa and Australia. My Most Recent Endeavor has been to partner with The Women’s Leadership Network, I am now a certified public speaker and have had the privilege of traveling all over the United States sharing my light with the world speaking at many different seminars empowering and inspiring a legion of followers to create and live their own life. A life that is truly fulfilling and beyond what you could ever imagine, even if you are faced with a life altering diagnosis.

How did you build your audience on social media?
On my Account Jeanne_Mae I have 52k Followers on Instagram and I’m just shy of 1M in tik tok. How I build this foundation is consistency, I have a set schedule of when I post so my followers know what to expect. I collaborate with many other artist’s in the same niche and different niches as well to gain exposure in different avenues. I also use hashtags that are similar to the content I’m posting.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I have an e-flyer highlighting my work, and success. I showcase a few companies I’ve worked with as well as my clients success. I send a mass email out to any model agency, Scouting Agency, Talent Scout as well as anyone that’s hash-tagged any type of #model on social media to see if they’re serious about getting started in the industry.
