Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jeanne Collins. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Jeanne thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
When I started my entrepreneurial journey in 2020, I shifted from corporate America to starting my own Interior Design firm. At the time, my goal was to build a big design firm and have my legacy be tied to a huge design business serving luxury clients all over the world.
As my creative interests grew, I expanded that business into a lifestyle brand, which meant my legacy made a major pivot as well. I realized that I had interests far beyond interior design. That was the tip of my impact on the world, while the foundation was a much deeper calling. I realized I wanted to empower and inspire women to become designers of their own lives. I wanted to leverage my skillset, experience, and uniqueness to provide women with multiple ways to learn and grow. This has led to a mission to empower 1 million women to become designers of their own lives through my brand, services, coaching, speaking, courses, and events. This feels more aligned with a larger calling and purpose for me and something that excites me every day!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Almost all of my clients come to me via referrals. That means I spend a great deal of time networking! Here are some of the ways that I do that;
* Women’s Networking Groups – I belong to multiple groups and make sure I attend at least one in person event a month. I also remain active by engaging with the platforms and their social media accounts.
* Social Media – I post daily on IG and manage all my own content. I like the authenticity of managing my account. This allows me to engage with like minded women who are good referral sources. It also helps me feel connected to other entrepreneurs.
* Linked In – I post regularly on Linked In since my target audience is often on this platform
* Being a guest on other podcasts – I try to be on at least 8-10 podcasts a year to help spread the message about my brand
* Writing articles – I try to write an article every few months for online publication
* Coffees/lunches/sponsoring local events – networking means talking to people, making connections and then seeing where those connections take you. I have a commitment of at least 2 coffees per month with someone I want to get to know better
* Advertising in local publications – I don’t do this as much, but I have done local advertising when it will get me an article in exchange for the ad
* Blog Posts – providing content of value and education and then sharing it on all social platforms
* Email marketing – our lists are the only audience we own so I email a newsletter at least once a month with educational content in addition to emails for every blog post.
For me, making connections with like-minded women has helped me grow my business. It is a long game but one that builds the right client base since it is strategic.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
One of my favorite podcasts about building a brand and being an entrepreneur is Brand Builders Group. I have learned so much from their content. After listening to them for a year, I then decided to become part of their program. The value they have provided has far exceeded my expectations! I would highly suggest looking into them if you want to build a personal brand and feel mission driven.
