We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jeanice Deeb. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jeanice below.
Jeanice, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
I’m a member of the “Healing For The Arts” at Providence St. Joseph Hospital & The Disney Family Cancer Center, both located in Burbank. Our group provides the art work for these locations. As a designer and artist, I find it very meaningful to furnish the bare white walls with colorful and vibrant artwork. We seek out artists to donate their work. I myself have done a few installation pieces for these buildings.
One day, I saw a cancer patient looking at the glass flower installation that I did at the Disney Family Cancer Center. She was standing there for a while, and I said to myself, this is why I do it.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Having studied business and art in college at Pepperdine University, I went on to get a Masters Degree in Architecture (A First Professional Degree) at SCIARC. It was such a challenge to get through the program. But I learned so much about design and theory in general.
Graduating in the early 90’s was challenging, as there was a recession and it was hard to get a job in Architecture. So I decided to get a Real Estate Broker’s license. I figured I could sell buildings instead of design them. This led me to a career in commercial real estate, which I have been doing for over 30 years. As well, I was able to work on renovations for houses and commercial properties for the company I’ve been working with. I love the real estate business and I also love art. So on the side, I developed my design/art business ,JDMINA. (My initials and my families original last name, Mina.)
My design & art work are devoted mostly to the medium of glass. I’ve been working with glass for over 20 years. It’s been an exciting and passionate journey. Sometimes I venture into other mediums such as epoxy or even collaging. Abstract Expressionism and Deconstructionism are a major themes in my work.
As a Commercial Real Estate Broker, I thrive in the everyday, chaotic business world. And on the side, I am able to go to my studio and freely design and create whatever I want, with no rules and no restrictions.
Being a part of several organizations is also very fulfilling. As mentioned previously, “Healing For The Arts ” is a wonderful organization to be a part of. I also love being a member of the Burbank Art Association and have entered many juried shows and have won several ribbons in the categories of sculpture and collaging. I often sell or donate my work for charitable organizations such as dog charities. All of these groups make me feel like I am helping humanity through my passions, as a business woman, and as a designer/artist.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The mission driving my creative journey is that I want to be able to help humanity through my role as a business woman and as a designer/artist. Am fortunate that I am able to be doing this now. The goal is to keep doing more and to discover new and exciting methods to continue the journey.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Being acknowledged by my peers. Compliments from friends and other people when they see my work at the hospitals. Winning awards. And the ability to give back and help humanity.
