Alright, Jeanette thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?

To be successful from my point of view consists of various components. Being successful definitely consists of much hard work. In order to provide so, one must have to have a true passion for what they are doing. As long as one truly enjoys what they do, minor inconveniences will eventually be overlooked. There may be times were one will have to be willing to make sacrifices, like balancing time. Patience really plays a big role also. It is very easy to want to be successful overnight, especially in times like now where Social Media portrays Big Businesses just successful. In times like this we have to remind ourselves there’s more behind the scenes. Above all, remain persistent with perseverance. Always remember your purpose, congratulate yourself on all accomplishments whether big or small.

Hello all, I’m Jeanette, and I’m the person behind JSweets. JSweets is best known for the Gourmet Chocolate Dipped Strawberries. Lets take it back to how I got initially got into Dipping Berries. I initially wanted to do something with baking, but after trying fondant for the first time, I determined that was not for me. However, I still wanted to pursue something along the Sweets Business. I began by experimenting with chocolate dipped strawberries. The first batch I ever made was alongside of my best friend. I dipped my first set of berries in chocolate syrup y’all. Looking back it makes me laugh so much because in fact like many small business we all start from the bottom and in order to get further it takes so much trial and error. Although our menu is small, we do offer birthday arrangements, floral and berry arrangements, dipped Oreos, dipped Rice Krispie treats, dipped Pretzels, and are always willing to create any ideas you might have. I believe what sets me apart from others is the attention to detail and the high quality products I strive to provide for every order. I’m most proud of how far I have came, my customers are truly the best, they truly support my “little” business unconditionally. I want all potential clients, followers, to know I’m going to continue to do my best and look forward to serving everyone.

How did you build your audience on social media?

Plenty of patience. In all honesty, when it comes to the audience built its all thanks to my family, friends, customers, and just supporters in general who share my work. Word of mouth really goes a long way, specially when it comes to Social Media.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

A lesson I had to unlearn was saying yes to orders even when I was completely maxed out for the day. As time progressed, I have learned to engage in more self care. Finding a balance between work and self care can often be challenging when pursuing a small business or just in general. I learned it was ok to set boundaries and be unavailable at times. It’s ok to put yourself first.
