We recently connected with JeanCarlo Ramirez and have shared our conversation below.
JeanCarlo, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To me success means many things, not only being great at what you do but also being a good person, not being selfish, helping others, having freedom to enjoy your life, being healthy and investing your profits in things that will generate more revenue (there are others I can add to this list but that’s just what I can think of at the moment)
But I’m order to be successful, you need a mixture of all of that and in order to get there you need to work on who you are first, exercise, do yoga, hangout with your family, volunteer in things and never give up on your dream. As an artist I never was guaranteed a job, I never have the same exact work schedule every week because I work project based, I know it sounds scary but that’s when the trust in yourself part comes in.
I think of it as a soup of success and you have to throw many ingredients in there.
I don’t believe I am successful yet but I can say I’m on the right path.
JeanCarlo, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m JeanCarlo Ramirez, I’m a filmmaker, Photogrpaher and adventure guide. I started IndieHouse films which is a boutique media company based in West Palm Beach, FL – we do all types of projects, from commercial work to documentary, event and lifestyle and others. Through out the years I’ve been honored with work with word renowned artist from Grammy winners to Academy Award winners, I’ve also had clients such at Hilton Hotels, Delta Airlines, NatGeo and NASA to name a few.
As an artist I love working with arts organizations as well and a few I’d like to mention are YoungArts, The Palm Beach Symphony and the Norton Museum of Art.
I started IndieHouse Films in 2012 and now fast forward to 2023 and I have to say I’m glad I did, I’ve been able to establish relationships with clients that actually paved way for the company to work all year long with various clients and allowed me to expand my team of creatives that I hire as well for the projects that my company gets hired to do.
5 years ago I also started Exploring Planet Iceland which is a travel company where I personally take 6-7 people on a road trip around Iceland for a week.
I started this company because of my love to travel and the fact that I wanted to show other people a place that truly brings me inner peace and I hope it does as well to them. I do these trips twice a year, one in the summer and the other one in the fall.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
A huge pivoting point in my career was how I started doing more film work, I grew up wanting to be a soccer player, I thought soccer would pay for my university and that it would bring me great success in life and when I was in high school I was good, I had played on the varsity team as a freshman all the way to senior year which was when I had a injury that left me out for most of the year. That was huge because that’s the year that as an athlete you’re scouted but universities and it was a huge blow for me but that’s when I started to create film and submit them to film festivals and little by little I started winning awards and having my film accepted to film festival around the world, it was truly unbelievable but it was a huge turning point of my career that I’m glad it turned out the way it did.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My particular goal or the thing that drives me is enjoying my job, I don’t take on projects just for the pay check, I do them because this is my passion and I don’t work a single day in my life. I get to meet all sorts of people and dive deep into their worlds. I get to create a story which inspires and touches audiences, all of this is what keeps me going.
