We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jean Carlos Cruz a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Jean Carlos, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea

I moved from Puerto Rico to Miami, Florida with the main idea of ​​expanding my business. In the search, I carefully studied the beauty industry especially for men, coming to the conclusion that men needed a specific place where they could receive the greatest amount of services without the need to visit several places. From there, came Òleo Men’s Salon, a concept dedicated to the personal care of gentlemen from a more complete perspective. After creating the idea, I focused on carrying out a market study that included the analysis of developing areas with new constructions of commercial facilities and prognostics of growing population in its surroundings. After completing our market study and search for available locations, we define the ideal place to make the project a reality. In October 2018, I signed the lease contract for the commercial facilities and, together with the contractor, we designed the plans and requested all the necessary permits for the execution of the project. Finally, in November 2019, the inauguration of Òleo Men’s Salon and the dream that I built with a lot of love and commitment took place.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

I started in the men’s barbering and styling business approximately 27 years ago, driven by the need to cover my personal expenses. In my beginnings in Puerto Rico, I offered barbershop and styling services in a basic way and it is in 2014, after my arrival in the United States and driven by my passion for the business, that I began to develop it in a different way, transforming it into a broader concept related to the personal care of men. Our services include: Barber services, hair and aesthetic treatments, hair coloring and bleaching, waxing, manicures, pedicures, and even workshops related to learning this wonderful profession. At Òleo Men’s Salon we have a focus on providing quality care and above all, an experience. After a long career, I feel very proud to have created a concept that has achieved the acceptance we expected from our customers. We are a family that works as a team to satisfy the particular needs of each of our clients and we are pleased to extend the invitation to all those gentlemen who still do not know us to join our wonderful Òleo Men’s Salon Experience.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

The key to building my reputation within the area of ​​personal care for men is essentially based on my discipline, consistency and focus aimed at complying with all those elements that help strengthen my business vision. I am constantly looking for new trends and innovating to satisfy more and more the needs of my clients and all my knowledge is transmitted and replicated through the Òleo Men’s Salon work team.
