Jc , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
for sure. back when I was living in Colombia, I remember asking my father for the Dj equipments but they were very expensive so I never got them, so I got busy with school and soccer and i slowly stopped thinking about it. but I feel like if I would have started earlier, by now I would be doing so much stuff. I know some people say age don’t matter but I feel like it does, if you are 33 years old you already have a lot more responsibilities so it makes it more challenging to go full time into music. but I always make some time to make music and sign tracks to labels.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I got into music at a young age, going to small events here and there with my fake id lol. I have always been a discipline guy so when I moved to United States I decided to work and buy my equipments so I could start making music and djing. it was a slow process to be honest with you because I was really focus on soccer at that time and I didn’t grow up with friends or family that had the same taste as me, so it took a while for me to get started into making music. besides all this I’m still proud that I was able to teach myself how to dj and produce music, I had a great mentor as well who guided me in the right direction. people that follow me should expect more music in the near future, new label signings as well as running my own record label called minimal nest records.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I think the support starts with your inner circle, your friends and family. if they don’t support it will be very hard to continue with the pursue of your dream. as far as the society goes I think people should always support the locals first, I live in New York and we always see the big venues full because they have great marketing but New Yorkers should support the local talent, there’s so much talent in nyc it is insane, that’s why I feel that we should support for locals dj/producers, that way they feel more motivated to keep doing their thing.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
just seeing people dance to your music and having a good time. this is what makes making music rewarding, see the people groove and enjoy is something that brings a lot of joy and happiness.
