We recently connected with Jazzy Cadiente and have shared our conversation below.
Jazzy, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I think I knew I wanted to pursue a career in anything music, or artistically creative, at a very young age. However, I feel like there’s two answers to this:
1 – In general? Maybe around 5 or 6 years old — Probably like a lot of young kids attached to the TV in the early 2000s, Disney DCOM Soundtracks and CD’s had me hooked, and I was caught singing a lot of High School Musical, other DCOM original songs, and outside of that, other relevant artists that were around that genre and time growing up. With that being said, I was also digesting a lot of old school R&B, Hip-Hop, and Oldies-but-Goodies at this time, thanks to my parents’ influence and background. My parents saw how much I enjoyed singing, so they bought a karaoke machine at one point, and slowly started building a pile filled with karaoke CDs— in my spare time, I’d pop one in and just go for it!
2 – Professionally? 7 years old — At the time, my parents were also taking me back and forth from Vegas to LA for a short while doing ProScout auditions for casting calls, as I was an aspiring child actor first. I had a lot of great experiences and opportunities out there, from taking acting classes from profound actors that I’d seen on TV, to even shooting at the Warner Bros. Studios lot for a commercial. Eventually, my family and I couldn’t keep going back and forth between states, and I made the executive decision to stay in my hometown, Las Vegas. Thankfully, my parents saw that I was also still passionate about singing, so they placed me in vocal lessons soon after— I started performing professionally as a vocalist around Vegas that same year, and have been doing so ever since.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
With family ties to the island of O’ahu, and taking pride in being born and raised in the 9th island — Jazzy Cadiente is a Vegas native, AAPI, R&B/Hip-Hop Singer-Songwriter, and is no stranger to the stages she steps on.
After going back and forth from LA and LV for acting opportunities, and choosing to stay in her hometown while honing in on singing, she first made appearances in the Vegas community performing at local shows around the valley when she was only 7 years old. By the time she was at the ages of 9–14, she had performed over a widespread of multiple contests, shows, and festivals around the valley, establishing her artistry very early on in her career.
Around the age of 16, she started songwriting and releasing her own original music — releasing her debut EP, “Illusions” (with Joey Miceli), her debut album, “Eightytwo Days” (with production by Santino Cardinale), and “Selfish” (with Panda). Now, at 22, she’s back in the scene— not only has she been performing along the Las Vegas Strip and the Downtown Arts District, sharing stages alongside other talented local artists from Vegas, but she’s also ready to display her new sound and music to the city that’ll feel nostalgic, but hits close to the heart.
Her newest comeback single, “Crave”, is out now on all DSP’s, and will be the lead single to her upcoming sophomore project (date TBD).

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I think the most rewarding aspect as a creative, is getting the opportunity to collaborate with local artists from your community. When I first started writing, my friends growing up- who are also artists around Vegas- were really the catalyst into helping me grow and build the confidence into being the songwriter I could be. When you’re getting to work with many dope artists over the years, what I’ve found is that you get an inside look at how different individuals operate in a group studio session, or how certain artists’ brains work when writing their verses or hooks. The exchange of knowledge between artists can always be applied and attuned to how your individual writing style works for you, so I always advocate heavy for collaboration everywhere I go.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I think the mission that’s currently driving my journey through music right now, is to continue to focus on the feeling. Different songwriters write in different ways that they initially see fit, but speaking for myself personally, when I write, I don’t tend to go too into detail with recounting personal experiences upfront— rather, I do it through conveying and showcasing emotions more behind the story instead. While I draw my inspiration and fuel from personal encounters, I choose to leave you with the feeling as the forefront focus in the lyrics. I tend to write songs this way for myself too, because I also use this as an outlet for my own emotions. I have such a deep passion to release music like this out into the world— not just because it’s what drives me, but because I have the courage to put myself out on display, knowing that someone out there could relate to the same feelings that I’m going through as well.
