We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jazzlynn a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jazzlynn, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
When I decided to get my location, I told myself I wanted it to be fun. I want to walk in and instantly feel a feeling of appreciation. Then I came up with the idea that everything would be pink. So why not call it The Pink Room. It just made so much sense. Initially my friends wanted me to call it The Rosé Room. Very often, I’m asked if pink is my favorite color when people visit my salon. My favorite color is actually white. I’m not a pink type of girl, but it’s been three years of seeing nothing but pink, and I grew to love it. It is now my second favorite color.
Jazzlynn, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have been a licensed cosmetologist for 8 years now. I have a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and a Master’s in Human Resources. Still, doing hair has always been what I love doing. I’ve been doing hair since high school. Today, I am the owner of The Pink Room. I provide top-quality tape-in extensions and luxury installation services. This area, The Pink Room, is going to continue to grow. Currently, five different shades are available in tape-in extensions. We are going to spice things up a bit for the summer. Bundles will soon be available in additional colors. I’m super excited about this.
We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.
Currently, The Pink Room products are only available on thepinkroomhtx.com. It has been in review to extend the products on different platforms. Of course, there are pros and cons to this. My most significant concern is keeping control of the quality with the customer service, shipping, packaging, etc. However, there’s a high possibility that the products and tools catalog will be expanded to Amazon for stylists.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Very simple, put out quality, and the business has no choice but to grow. This is something I genuinely believe in. I get so many inquiries about doing promotion deals. I always turn those opportunities down. I want my growth to be authentic. I want people to purchase products or services from The Pink Room because they trust the quality, not because of promotion.
