We recently connected with Jazz Thorpe and have shared our conversation below.
Jazz, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Taking a risk is one of the hardest but also one of the most rewarding things that you can do for yourself. As for my story, taking a risk has been life changing to say the least. By now, Ive told my story of how I became the owner of Summer Daze Beauty a thousand times, but I never tell the side of how much of a risk I took starting a business without knowing anything about a business in the middle of figuring out my place in this world. When I started Summer Daze Beauty, I was in the middle of figuring out life after undergrad, working full time at a job that I didn’t like, and becoming a full time graduate student. Life was kicking my butt. However, I was determined that I was going to start this business because I had a vision and a purpose to pursue a life in skincare. So against all odds and hardships that I faced, I worked. I worked and researched to learn my formulas, to create, and to live wholeheartedly in my purpose to fulfill this dream. There were days that I felt absolutely overwhelmed with everything going on in my life but I kept telling myself that it was the risk that I was taking because I knew my life was meant for greater.
It’s absolutely crazy to say but I risked my sanity most days, I risked losing time with family and friends, and I risked my time by just jumping out there on faith.
Thankfully for me, this year Summer Daze Beauty will be four years old. Im so grateful to say that we’ve reached so many amazing customers that love our products. We’ve helped women and men reach their skincare goals nationwide. As a company, we continue to grow and spread our influence, while continuing learn the ins and outs of this business market.
As I look back into this story, I never regret the time that I spent taking the risk. Even after putting myself most days on the chopping block, I continue to applaud my strength and my determination. Im confident that the plan and the purpose will manifest into Summer Daze Beauty becoming one of the largest skincare companies globally one day. I hope to come back to this article to read about my manifestation when it becomes my reality.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Jazz Thorpe. I was born and raised in Macon, Ga. I graduated from Georgia Southern University with my Bachelors in Biology and a Masters in Public Health. In 2019, I started Summer Daze Beauty Brand to create natural products for individuals who yearned for an alternative skincare method to improve their skin health. I’ve always been interested in the beauty market. However, I got into the skincare business after producing my own skincare products in college. I have sensitive skin and for a while it seemed as if no major retail skincare products were working for me. I researched how to incorporate natural products in skincare and started making my own sugars scrubs. I gained the results that I desired. After gaining those results, I was asked often what I used on my skin. When I would say I made my products and people would always tell me that I needed to sell them. So that’s exactly what I started doing. I started scared, I started with no business sense, and I just did it.
As of right now, Summer Daze Beauty offers three sugars scrubs that aid in cleansing, rejuvenating, and moisturizing. We also offer a daily combination of a facial wash and serum that has cleansing and brightening agents incorporated in their recipes.
Im proud of how far Summer Daze Beauty has come. This is my baby and I’ve watched it grow and become everything that I dreamed it could be in the last three years. Im determined and motivated to keep working to reach a bigger market this year.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Funding lol. Funding for my business has been from my pockets. As stated before, I had no knowledge of business loans, grants, or business credit when I started. I used the funds that I saved and that I made from my job to fund my business. I took it one pay check at a time until I was able to provide and release quality products.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In the second year of business, I had a ton a personal struggles that I faced. As a business owner starting out, most times people still work and have other obligations from life that have to be tended to. At this stage, thats where I was and I felt like I wanted to quit on my business. Summer Daze was on the back burner and it was getting hard for me to keep up. However, after a lot of prayer, I decided not to give up on my business but to quit the job that I was unhappy at and focus more time on myself and Summer Daze. I didn’t take Summer classes when I quit my job so I had time to reset and continue to bring ideas into fruition.
