Alright, Jazmyn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
I definitely wish I would have started sooner. Honestly, I should’ve started in college. I could be a lot farther ahead in my content creation career.
Jazmyn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a vlogger and content creator. I started doing makeup as a method of self-expression and I started to gain a small following. I got a certification in Maryland to become a makeup artist and started taking clients. Well between working full-time and COVID, I stopped doing makeup on other people and just started filming Get Ready With Me content. My partner was also into vlogging and we started doing that but it became too much to do on my phone. I decided to invest more into vlogging. I bought a camera and other equipment and relaunched my channel with different types of videos. I think the hardest part of content creation is editing and being consistent. Sometimes it is hard to maintain a steady posting schedule. No matter how hard that may be, I haven’t given up and that is what I am most proud of.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Being able to express myself through a different media and have it be received well. I have gotten mostly positive feedback from the content I have posted. I’ve even gotten requests to upload videos when I’ve been absent for a while.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I am still in the beginning of my journey somewhat. I’ve been on YouTube for a couple of years now and I have quite a long way to go. What I have noticed is that being consistent will grow your audience. Just keep putting out the videos, the photos, the art, whatever it is. The audience will come.
