We were lucky to catch up with Jazmyn Martin recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jazmyn , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
The legacy I hope to build is one without limitations—a beacon of inspiration for the uninspired and a source of hope for those who feel lost on their journey. Growing up, I never envisioned owning a business or crafting a life from my passions. I was raised to follow a traditional path: go to school, secure a good job, settle down, and start a family. While this approach worked for many, it never felt like my own.
During my junior year at Hampton, God planted a seed in my heart—a calling to start a beauty business that defied convention. Not once did doubt cross my mind; instead, I was flooded with ideas: What would I name my brand? What services would I offer? What colors would represent my vision? It was as if I could see my dreams unfolding before me.
As a broke college student, I reached out to family and friends for support to fund my venture, only to be met with skepticism and remarks like, “What are you going to do, work in one of those nail shops doing lashes?” But rather than feel defeated, I became more determined—hungrier for the path God had illuminated for me, even when the first steps were unclear. With God’s guidance, I quieted the noise around me and engaged in a battle of Me vs. Me.
I worked two jobs to fund All That Lash LLC, starting in my mom’s living room. As my clientele grew rapidly, I moved to a beauty salon, then a salon suite, and now I’m preparing to open my own salon suites and build a team. When I began my journey within just six months, I achieved six-figure success, fueled by the faith of a mustard seed. I refused to fail.
What began with lashes expanded into brows, skincare, and permanent makeup. I didn’t always know where this journey would lead, but I felt God calling me to make a positive impact in my community, to grow through my mistakes, and to embrace the woman He created me to be. I became my own graphic designer, content creator, accountant, and therapist—my number one supporter.
I am building a legacy of generational wealth, creating opportunities for others, investing in real estate, and challenging every stereotype about African American women. I understand that breaking generational curses can make you feel like the black sheep, but I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything; I am never alone with God leading the way.
Lacking a mentor on my journey has fueled my desire to establish educational centers that provide financial literacy, career coaching, confidence-building, and community outreach for aspiring entrepreneurs. My vision extends beyond the beauty industry; it’s about personal growth and uplifting others along the way.
When I’m gone, I hope to be remembered as the woman who never gave up, who fought every battle with faith, and whose endurance surpassed her doubts. I want to be known as a millionaire whose profits are constantly reinvested in the community, proving that success is achievable for everyone.
My hope is that my legacy inspires future generations to pursue their passions, embrace their individuality, and make their mark on the world. I aim to continue creating a welcoming space where clients not only enhance their beauty but also feel valued and celebrated for who they truly are. In this way, I hope to empower others, fostering a sense of belonging and mentorship in the beauty industry and beyond.

My name is Jazmyn Martin, and I am the proud owner and CEO of All That Lash LLC. My journey into the beauty industry is deeply personal, rooted in faith, resilience, and the transformative power of dreams. It all began in May 2019 during my junior year at Hampton University, when God placed a vision in my heart to create a beauty business that connects with people on a meaningful level.
As I navigated the ups and downs of college life, I shared my dream with family and friends, hoping for their support. Instead, I encountered skepticism that could have easily crushed my spirit. But rather than deter me, their doubts ignited a fire within me. I became fiercely determined to carve my own path, guided by an unwavering faith. Those late nights and early mornings were fueled by passion; I learned to be my own graphic designer, content creator, accountant, and even therapist, drawing strength from the encouraging words of Sarah Jacobs, who would say, “Get up, girl!” Each time I remained disciplined, I felt God rewarding my efforts.
With unwavering resolve, I took on two jobs and saved every penny. I launched All That Lash LLC from my mom’s living room, teaching myself everything I needed to know—whether it was mastering lash applications or honing my waxing techniques through hours of practice and research. In just six months, I achieved six-figure success against all odds, driven by an unyielding spirit and the desire to show women that comfort and affordability in self-care can coexist.
However, my journey was not without challenges. I constantly battled self-doubt, questioning whether I was on the right path. Lacking mentors, I became a student of life, learning through trial and error and determined to overcome the limited version of myself. What began as a focus on lash extensions blossomed into a full suite of services: brow tinting and lamination, microshading and lip blush, beauty marks, and a variety of esthetic treatments like glass skin facials and waxing. I also offer makeup services and one-on-one training and mentorship, aiming to empower others in their journeys.
What truly sets me apart in this industry is my unwavering commitment to excellence and the genuine care I extend to each client. I strive to create a welcoming space where clients feel not just comfortable, but truly valued. Their loyalty is a testament to the profound impact we can have on one another. Knowing that I’ve serviced, met, and positively impacted over 1,000 women—while receiving their incredible support in return—has been the most fulfilling aspect of my journey. All That Lash is more than just a business; it’s my heart, my soul, and my legacy. I am devoted to nurturing its growth and making a meaningful impact in the world.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
In our journey through life, it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking we need to handle everything on our own. But true strength lies in recognizing the power of community. No one can do it all, and that’s perfectly okay. When we let others in—whether it’s friends, family, or even strangers—we open ourselves up to new ideas, support, and collaboration.
I used to believe I had all the answers and that my creative vision was something only I could understand. This mindset limited me and stunted my growth. I felt the weight of being a “strong Black woman,” convinced I had to do it all alone—even as I struggled mentally and physically.
Think of it this way: just as a single seed needs the right soil, sunlight, and water to grow, our dreams thrive when nurtured by the contributions of others. Allowing people to help us enriches our experiences and fosters connections that can lead to incredible transformations.
Remember, asking for help doesn’t show weakness; it shows wisdom. Embrace the support around you, and you’ll discover that together, you can achieve far more than you ever could alone. Let go of the belief that you have to go it alone—let your community lift you up, and watch your dreams flourish!


Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
There are several resources that have profoundly shaped my management and entrepreneurial thinking. One book that became a key component in my life was “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne. It fundamentally shifted my perspective on success and the power of mindset.
In The Secret, Byrne emphasizes the law of attraction—the idea that positive thoughts bring positive outcomes. This concept resonates deeply with me, especially in the context of entrepreneurship. I’ve learned that being a business owner isn’t solely about logic and strategy; it’s about embodying a mindset of possibility and resilience.
I remember working at Best Buy, sneaking away during my breaks to read and apply the principles from the book. I felt a crazy rush of excitement, even as others around me couldn’t grasp where this newfound enthusiasm was coming from. I began seeing real results from just staying positive! One quote that particularly struck me was, “You are the creator of your own reality.” This notion reminded me that my thoughts and beliefs directly influence my experiences and outcomes.
Byrne also states, “Whatever you think about and thank about, you bring about.” This insight motivated me to focus on gratitude and visualization, key tools that helped me navigate challenges and maintain a positive outlook.
The book taught me that character, intention, and the energy I put out into the world play crucial roles in my journey. Embracing this philosophy has allowed me to show up authentically, fostering connections and collaborations that have propelled my business forward.
In addition to The Secret, other resources like Simon Sinek’s Start With Why, and Brené Brown’s Dare to Lead have also influenced my approach, emphasizing the importance of purpose, vulnerability, and authentic leadership in building a successful business.
Overall, these resources have underscored the importance of mindset, character, and community in my entrepreneurial journey, reminding me that success is as much about who I am and how I show up as it is about the strategies I implement.
