Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jazmine Simpson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jazmine, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Folks often look at a successful business and imagine it was an overnight success, but from what we’ve seen this is often far from the truth. We’d love to hear your scaling up story – walk us through how you grew over time – what were some of the big things you had to do to grow and what was that scaling up journey like?
People often see the glow-up but not the grind. From the outside, it can look like success happened overnight — a few viral posts, a loyal client base, a booked schedule — but the truth is, my journey in esthetics has been years of steady growth, learning, and persistence. Scaling up didn’t happen in a single leap; it came from intentional steps, faith, and a lot of behind-the-scenes work.
When I first started, it was just me — one treatment room, a small list of clients, and a big vision. I knew I wanted to create a space where people didn’t just receive skincare services but experienced true care, healing, and confidence. But turning that dream into a sustainable business took strategy and consistency.
1. I invested in education and systems.
Early on, I realized that skill alone wouldn’t sustain growth. I took additional trainings, learned business operations, and implemented systems for booking, client management, and marketing. Automation and structure freed me up to focus more on the client experience rather than just the day-to-day tasks.
2. I built my brand with intention.
Branding wasn’t just about a logo — it was about creating trust. I refined my social media presence, shared real results, and used my own voice to connect with clients. Consistency online helped build community and word-of-mouth referrals became my biggest marketing tool.
3. I made mistakes — and learned from every one.
There were slow seasons, pricing missteps, and times I overbooked myself trying to please everyone. But each challenge taught me how to refine my systems, trust my value, and set boundaries that protect my business and peace.
4. I stayed rooted in purpose.
What truly scaled my business wasn’t just strategy — it was purpose. My faith, passion for skincare, and desire to help others feel beautiful from the inside out kept me going even when things got hard. Every decision, from rebranding to expanding services, came back to that “why.”
Today, my business is bigger, stronger, and more aligned than ever — but it didn’t happen by chance. It was built on small, faithful steps, long nights, prayer, mistakes turned into lessons, and a steady commitment to excellence.
Scaling up wasn’t a single moment — it was a process of becoming.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Meet Jazmine Simpson, Founder of Beauty & Beyond – A Story of Faith, Healing, and Beauty
My journey into the esthetics industry began from a place of deep personal loss and transformation. In 2018, just two months after graduating from college with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, my mom passed away. That season of grief left me searching for purpose and healing. About a year later, I decided to enroll in esthetician school as a way to pull myself out of depression and rediscover joy through helping others feel confident in their own skin.
Shortly after graduating, the world changed — COVID-19 hit in 2020, and I suddenly had no choice but to go into business for myself. What started as an act of survival soon became a calling. Through discipline, faith, and consistency, I’ve been blessed to stay in business for five years — going on six. Over time, I’ve learned that when business slows down, it’s not failure, it’s a reminder to rest, recharge, and prepare for what’s next. I’ve also learned the importance of financial stewardship — saving for a rainy day has been one of the keys to sustaining my business through unpredictable seasons.
I began offering facial and full-body waxing services, then expanded into advanced treatments such as HydraFacials, dermaplaning facials, and LED light therapy. Makeup artistry has always been part of my creative foundation, and now I’ve extended my brand by developing my own line of skincare and body products — allowing clients to continue their self-care routine at home between appointments.
The problems I help my clients solve go far beyond skin. I help them heal troubled skin, remove unwanted hair, and regain confidence in their appearance. My goal is to make every person who walks through my doors feel cared for, seen, and beautiful — inside and out.
What truly sets my business apart is my commitment to professionalism and customer service. In an industry that can sometimes feel rushed or impersonal, I take pride in creating a welcoming, consistent, and respectful environment. My clients know they’ll receive quality service, honesty, and a personal touch every time they book with me.
What I’m most proud of is not just how far my business has come, but how it has allowed me to turn pain into purpose. This journey has been about more than skincare — it’s been about faith, resilience, and empowering others to look and feel their best.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I’m currently in the middle of one of the biggest pivots of my life and career. After earning my bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2018, I never imagined my path would lead me into the beauty industry. But after losing my mother that same year, I found myself in a deep season of grief and depression. Pursuing esthetics became both a form of healing and a way to reconnect with purpose. What began as a personal journey soon grew into a thriving business — one that has allowed me to help others feel confident, cared for, and beautiful for the past several years.
Now, seven years later, I’m feeling called to return to my first passion — mental health. I’ve officially enrolled in a graduate program to earn my master’s degree in psychology and become a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). This transition feels like a full-circle moment, blending both of my callings: outer beauty and inner healing.
As I step into this next chapter, I’m also making strategic moves within my current business. I’ve begun renting out salon suites within my space to other beauty professionals, allowing Beauty & Beyond to continue growing and operating even as I shift my personal focus toward therapy. In the future, I plan to open a second, larger location that supports other entrepreneurs in expanding their own beauty businesses.
This pivot isn’t about leaving one dream behind — it’s about evolving. I’m learning that purpose can take many forms, and sometimes the next level of growth means trusting yourself enough to step into something new while still nurturing what you’ve already built.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was people-pleasing. Working in a service-based industry, my natural instinct has always been to help others and make people feel comfortable. While that mindset has served me well in building strong client relationships, I learned that constantly trying to please everyone can come at the expense of my boundaries and business.
Over time, I realized that maintaining professionalism also means standing firm on my policies, rules, and expectations. Clear boundaries protect not only my time and energy but also the quality of service my clients receive. I had to understand that saying “no” or enforcing a policy doesn’t make me difficult — it makes me disciplined and ensures that my business runs with integrity.
That experience taught me an important truth: in both business and life, you must stand for something, or you’ll fall for anything. Learning to balance compassion with confidence has been one of the most valuable parts of my growth as a business owner and professional.
