We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jazmine Robinson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jazmine below.
Jazmine, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
If I could go back in time I most certainly would’ve jumpstarted sooner. It would be either during high school or along my college journey. I totally admire this generation as they are super ambitious and they don’t follow the norm and are not eager to be cookie cutter versions instead they aspire to stand out. This was something I was good at but always encouraged to do the complete opposite and follow suit in order to fit in. Had I began sooner it would have allowed me to focus on what I was naturally good at versus going along with what others thought I should partake in. In a sense closed minds feeding open minds was the norm. Having began during the Pandemic gives N2Skin by 4K its purpose. After much prayer and counsel I was led to use my creative abilities which have always been present in order to set the basis of the foundation of a generational lineage to pass down to my children, which is something that I just didn’t have or even encouraged growing up. If I could go back in time I would have included more celebrations of milestones as owning and operating a brand of any sort is a very challenging role to fill alone so when you have a family to care for and other businesses already fully in function it’s definitely something that requires focus, balance, and lots of prayer. So celebrations would definitely be a thing. It’s good to be modest but it is hard work which deserves a bit of fun!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
For those that may not know who I am, I am an energetic, extremely optimist, who enjoys helping other reach their goals and achievements. I enjoy spending time worshipping GOD and partaking in all the pathways He allows. To Him I give Honor for my being and where I currently am the opportunities that continue to fall within my presence inclusive of this opportunity. I am a wife, mother, and Entrepreneur.
That being said.. I’m the Founder/Program Director of Epiphany Spectrum, a developmental Program which focuses on Educational Development, Social, Emotional, and Mental stability of the Homeschooling Community specifically minorities, the Founder/Owner of Women in Submission, which focuses on uplifting, supporting, and encouraging women to walk in their God given purpose through growing through the trials life throws at us. Lastly, how I ended up here… I am the Founder and CEO of N2Skin by 4K an all natural skincare/beauty brand which formulates ALL our products using no preservatives and with organic ingredients only.
Our products include Facial Cleansers, Body Scrubs, Body Whips, Hair Nourishment Tonic, and Bath Detoxes. We are excited about our new baby the Beauty Boss Program which is designed to assist those interested in launching, revamping, and expanding their beauty brand. Offering all of the mentorship inclusions which I think would have been beneficial had there been a program of such caliber when we launched. This is definitely one of the ways in which our brand stands out. Not only do we have the five star ratings, the magazine features from major brands such as Vogue House to invitations galore including the International Film Festival, we take pride in not just focusing on the so called shiny lights, but the quality of the products in which we offer and those who make it possible. The ability to offer quality products in an oversaturated market, knowing that we aren’t in competition due to everyone having his/her own unique attributes also is a highlight of our brand. We too treat all our customers with the upmost respect regardless of a $300 purchase or a $40 purchase. We value all of our customers alike. We do however give customer perks based on how frequent you order and the dollar amounts, which is to show our appreciation further for loyalty and repeat customers.
Our brand is a small business and it is continuing to grow. We have recently launched our new Hair Tonic, and the Beauty Boss Program as mentioned previously and are excited to continue to travel the path laid out before us as we are allowed we will keep elevating our brand to satisfy the natural hair, skin, and beauty needs.
We will be hosting our first Beauty Boss Workshop this Winter and are super excited for what will transpire from this endeavor. It’s truly such an exciting time and a great opportunity to collaborate, network, and give back through the wisdom I have been blessed to obtain in such a short period of time.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
As with any type of business, the customer reviews are what makes or breaks a brand. I don’t care how pretty the labels are, how fancy the jars are, if there is an issue with the product you may initially have a great launch but once the first wave dies down, that is when you learn about what others truly think of your brand. Your products. The way you conduct business. The magazine features and continued support from major brands has also been a blessing and opportunity to shape our name as well. It is not everyday you are featured overseas and gain recognition internationally without a crazy number of followers. It’s some crazy stuff out there. People often buy followers but we pride ourselves in having genuine customers and followers that show up because they want to.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for our brand is definitely consistency and trial and error. Not being afraid to take a risk. You may miss out on a great opportunity by not going with the crazy idea. That is what makes creating so great and unique for each brand. I mean you have numerous shampoos but they each market different. They use different ingredients in addition to the base, and market differently and this is what attracts different clientele. I had to get comfortable with going for it again as I had been mentally trained to play it safe so to speak. Something working in Corporate teaches very well. It allows you to see what your targeted demographic likes or responds to coming from your brand.
