We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jazmine Harrington a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jazmine, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
During the summer, my stories will be published on Wattpad, Weboons, and my YouTube channel. I hope for the summer of 2026 or 2027, if not before.
I would adore having my stories animated for Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, and Netflix!
I write science fiction, romance, slice-of-life, action, mystery, fantasy, philosophy, and spirituality.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I believe I have told this story to a great number of people throughout my life. We all fall off and forget who we are as we navigate this crazy world, so I’ll keep it going because it’s my root and keeps me rooted when I need to refocus on remembering who I am and connecting with my path. When I think back to the beginning of my foundation, I see things more clearly. recognizing the reasons behind why certain things happened in the manner that they did because you don’t always understand what’s going on.
My roots, my foundation, and a big part of my perseverance began when I was four or five years old. I learned to draw from my dad, who also gave me all of his own drawings. I drew all day long. And I was starting to like ballet at the time. A lot of people are unaware. The question of what part I wanted to play in the play was what ultimately led me to discover my true passion. Which would I prefer—being the rat or the swan? I mentioned the rat since it had a cool appearance! I always find it funny when I think back on it. I was a little sad because I couldn’t figure out then why it was the decisive element that put me on the right path.
Every girl wants to be the swan, not the rat! I spent more time creating art at home than I ever did practicing ballet. I wrote stories and made little inventions in my journals, along with drawing every day. In that sense, I was a creator using a pencil, my hands, and my eyes. I was good at noticing little details. My passion was building. The movie Meet The Robinsons really stook out to me as a kid and still is a all time favourite of mine.
I started working on MASSIVE personal projects outside of school. My drawings and stories quickly turned into animated series in my head. My inspiration to make my own animated series increased as I watched more of them.
I believe that the animated shows that I grew up with in my generation allowed children to learn adult concepts through lessons that the show’s main character would encounter. Everything had a purpose, always. There were more engaging, relatable, and lifelike characters. Sometimes these characters even had lessons to learn or decisions to make that seemed too big for them. Animated shows these days, in my opinion, are more conscious of what they release specifically for children, making them funnier and more kid-friendly with less morality or decision-making.
My addiction to anime shows stemmed from their captivating character journeys and emotional struggles, which made them seem bigger than life. Everybody’s heart is touched by anime, making you want to cry! Pulling on your heartstrings so bad that you feel connected to the main character!
You could say that having all of that influence on top of my dad’s constant optimism and understanding of foundation being the most important thing in life. As I got older, I began to see myself as bigger than the challenges I faced in life, bigger than the opinions of others, bigger than my own perception of myself.
Having all that, I developed self-belief. My dad always spoke so confidently about it and put so much effort into it, helping me reach places that were stepping stones to bring me closer to my destiny, so even if anybody else didn’t believe in it, I knew he did.
What I mentioned earlier is what you’re seeing now of me and my brand. Galaxyfi3nd is my artist name, and Galaxy Paradise Studios is my animation studio!
I strive to incorporate versatility, relatability, knowledge, and depth into every story I write, from the story writing to the characters to the setting!
That, in my opinion, sets me and my projects apart.
At twenty-four years old, I am proud of everything I have accomplished so far in life because I can’t remember a moment when I wasn’t thinking about my goals and my fate. Everything I’ve gone through up to this point was something I created, and it showed in my achievements. Each time I find myself wasting time, I shift my attention and channel all of my negative energy into positive energy. Burning my demons, so to speak, by providing them with a light and a means of creation. I made positive lessons out of my hardships to pass on to the next. Sometimes, in my opinion, the darkness is so overwhelming that both the light and the darkness lose their meaning. Too much light can cause blindness.
One may eventually become too blinded by the darkness. Sometimes you have to realize both sides before you can give purpose. Knowledge, as I always say, is power. For me, my stories will be the greatest things to ever happen to the animation and comic book world!
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
That’s right! My artistic path is motivated by an objective!
The origin of my world is creation. My spirit is fed by creativity in a way that I cannot survive without! I had no desire to work somewhere where my only option was to perish on the job. Because they can fit into that space, or at least fit in enough to do it every day, there are some people in the world who are at ease with that. Then there are some, like me, who, as artists, rebel against the conventional job structure by either inventing our own or figuring out better methods to enter the workforce while using our skills or talents to achieve something that would enhance daily life.
I firmly think that my purpose for being here on Earth is to fulfill a role comparable to that of a creator. This purpose is more about feeling truly fulfilled by being of service. As previously mentioned, anime had a profound emotional impact on me as a child and continues to do so, although in a different way now. Through my stories, which I will soon share with the world, I hope to have the same impact on those around me. My stories aim to inspire and bring out the best in others. As society grows more emotionally and socially alienated, it seems to me that it is a gift and a service to God. I want to convey the idea that there is nevertheless hope for the future of humanity.
To help achieve that, I’m in my final year of school to complete my bachelor’s degree In VFX animation. Strengthening my foundation for starting my own independent animation company, Galaxy Paradise Studios on YouTube.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
I study philosophy, metaphysics, intellectual discussions, and spiritual aspirations every day—especially science—so I could talk about them for days! I adore learning about the past, present, and future! I make an effort to always remember to be in the moment. I can’t get enough of the film The Matrix! Everyone who knows me is aware of my obsession with it and its ideas! It’s genuinely an amazing film.
I suppose I could say that everything began when I began to learn about conspiracies and the illuminati. From there, I learned more about spirituality and became more aware of my surroundings and to not be a sheep to be led astray. I’m confident that nothing in this world is what it seems to be.
I eventually turned my spirituality into knowledge by studying about several religions, including Buddhism and Gnosticism.
Since I enjoyed movies like Naruto and Avatar: The Last Airbender, Buddhism was more relatable to me.
By delving deeper into all these many truths, I was able to grow spiritually and become more in tune with myself. I was also able to keep my chakras balanced and eventually discover even more deep-seated creativity inside myself. It’s a real power, but life’s daily challenges can sabotage it, which is why it’s crucial to take care of oneself at the end of the day.
More than most people realize, power comes from knowledge. Saying it isn’t even sufficient. The meaning of this saying is not as simple as it seems.
