We recently connected with Jazmine Hall and have shared our conversation below.
Jazmine, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Growing up, I was taught that I always needed to have a job; “if you don’t work, you don’t eat”. So, I did just that until 2020. During the pandemic, my corporate bank job sent copious amounts of computer equipment to their employees’ homes, attempting to make the change in economy and social life as normal as possible. I was not only working full time, I also was a student in college, working on my bachelor’s degree in psychology. August of 2020, about 4 months into working from home, I grew wearier of my job and overall purpose. I was previously a coach for the company and trained a few employees, prior to the pandemic. I would tell them about my art talent, as if it was fairytale story, detached from myself. One employee, a dear friend now, asked to see my work over our work instant message chat. Not expecting much, I sent over my old Etsy store link, that held a few paintings I created in the past 3 years. About 5 minutes after I sent my link, my cell phone dinged as I answered my work phone, speaking to a customer. I placed the customer on hold and screamed in my tiny room, “She bought my painting!”. It was such a surreal experience; for someone to love something I created so much, to spend money on it. She typed in the chat, “I bought that painting, it is so amazing. I cannot understand why you’re working here.” A few weeks later, after talking to my husband about finances and what was possible, I put in my week notice and quit my job to pursue my art dreams.
I did not know if this plan was going to be successful, I was taking a risk. But the confidence and encouragement from those around me was more than enough to try. I sought out to create one of a kind, unique and luxurious pieces of art that could be displayed in any home, with any aesthetic. The exciting part about my art creations is that no two pieces are the same; it is actually impossible to duplicate work. Resin, the art medium I use, begins as liquid chemical substances, constantly moving and flowing. Working with resin in this form removes the chance of any piece looking like any other piece of artwork. It’s a very exciting process and journey.

Jazmine, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I feel that most of my journey in the art world has been winging it. I have had this passion for art since I was a child, but never imagined it could lead anywhere lucrative or fulfilling. After selling that painting to a previous coworker, I began to paint more, it was all I thought about. Back in 2019, my sister brought to my attention a new art medium, called resin. She had seen others using resin to create on YouTube and felt I could easily utilize. When she told me, I laughed and honestly, did not take the idea seriously. But now in 2020, I felt like a new and entirely different person. I studied YouTube videos and did my best to mimic these other amazing resin artists. I was scared to post any of my creations because they did not fit in with what I had seen on YouTube and on social media. As I posted my work, what I learned is that my style with resin was something new BECAUSE it was not what others were doing. I was being celebrated and appreciated for being different. I created an audience on social media that were admirers of my work, and my pieces were being requested for purchase. I came up with a business name, Bloomed by Jazmine LLC, pulled together a website, and overall aesthetic for my business. Although I worked very hard to get where I am today in my business, it feels like many aspects of this journey were effortless, like pieces of a puzzle fitting into place.
I have now tailored my business to creating custom luxurious home décor art pieces, perfect for any space, all handmade. I have taken the guessing and frustration out of finding corresponding art products to accent a room. The best part about my business is that I can do what I have always wanted to do for a living. My proudest moment was hearing my son tell his friend at his school, that I am an artist, with such pride. I am inspiring my children by turning my passion into my career. As a victor of child sexual assault, the little girl in me is screaming in joy. It feels like I am living a constant dream.
Fast forward to now, I have maintained an almost full-time job salary from Bloomed by Jazmine LLC and more importantly, I have built a community of other artists and admirers of art that distribute support and love among ourselves. I am sponsored by my favorite resin supplier company and my work is internationally known and acquired. I have finished school for my bachelor’s degree in psychology. I will be reenrolling for my master’s degree in 2024 in counseling, specifically art therapy. I am excited to combine my love for helping others, analyzing the mind, and utilizing my art passion.
My journey does not end here, I am excited and hopeful of what’s to come.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I keep in touch with my clients utilizing social media. I communicate through common messenger chats, like Facebook messenger, Instagram messaging, and Tiktok inbox messages. This has been a convenient way to stay in touch and have the ability to provide consistent updates and information regarding orders. Brand loyalty is so difficult to maintain these days, everyone seems to have their own business. It is a great turn of events, but it definitely could cause problems with loyalty. Honestly, the best way I have been able to foster brand loyalty has been with my transparency of my journey in the art community and consistency in products. I am open and honest about the time I put into each product and the overall quality. I am consistent with the products I showcase to the world. I will be the first to say if an art piece isn’t up to my standards. I am very vocal about providing my absolute best every order, no matter the cost paid or product ordered. Clients return to shop with me frequently due to the combination of both aspects.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Many people say: find the one thing you love to do in life and would do for free. That is when you know you have found your career, when you would be willing to do it for free. I had to unlearn this ideal because it seems to promote that what you are passionate about should make you so happy that money cannot supersede that. Money does not supersede that but it enhances the passion. I am completely head over heels with art. I love creating pieces that bring joy to myself and others. It is a plus that the thing I love to do also makes me money, however, I understand my worth and value that I would not do this for free. It is a tough concept to admit, but I have learned this throughout my art journey.
