Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jazmin Shiner. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jazmin, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The most meaningful project I have worked on to date I have not yet titled. It’s a 3×2 Ft mixed media Painting on a stretched canvas. The art on the canvas is an original character created by myself. It is my first Anime character.
Back when I first started challenging myself as an artist I use to go to the local library wherever I lived and find books with images that I could copy, trace, color, anything. I fell into Manga books. The first 2 I ever read were “naruto” and “ Chibi Vampire”. I simultaneously grew a strong interest in drawing and anime. From there I became obsessed with turning myself into a chibi character, or constantly drawing my self in different art forms. The growth of life lead me into realism as I was always looking for ways to better the detail in my work. This past year I met someone who brought my original art style back into the front of my brain. I with the huge inspirational influence I finished this paint that was started 8 years ago.
This specific character and painting, is so important to me because out of all my art this is the one that really captures my entire artistic journey. It showcases my inner child and my skill to date. It’s more me than any portrait I could paint of myself.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
If we are crossing paths for the first time, know that I am not here by accident, as I did not become an artist by accident. My life took a really hard turn that made me choose being a Painter, Tattoo Artist, Cteative Director, Muralist, amongst other things. I think what sets me apart from others is my foot to the pedal type of drive and ambition to truly be the most well rounded artist I could be. I try not to limit myself to just one artistic area. I’m most proud of how far I came as a Tattoo Artist. I think art is intentional, spiritual, emotional etc. Even though I dabble in a lot I still put my all into anything art.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The art is the reward. The greatest artist of the world created art that lives with us forever. Wether it’s a painting, architecture, music, or sculptures. It’s rewarding for me to know that once I create something it more exist because of me. My paintings will hang in homes for years to come. My tattoos will travel with people through life. To know that my client or customer loves and cherishes my Art makes me joyful.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Consistency is my favorite word when this conversation exist. What got me to where I am is doing what I love everyday. If you put the time in it’ll pay you. One of my secrets over my journey has been, “if I can work 8 hours at a job and get a paycheck, imagine what the outcome would be if I got up everyday and worked on art for 8 hrs”. For anyone looking to build their presence my best advice would is “ Be Present”
