We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jazmin Moreno. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jazmin below.
Jazmin, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
A month after my high school graduation, I moved back to Denver, CO. One day, in early winter, the last week of January 2017, my sister and I went to an annual Fossil Gem and Mineral show. We stopped at a booth that sold mineral beads.
We talked with the owner for some time, which led to him asking if we would be interested in helping with the gem show that weekend. At the time, my sister Jessica was already working with a phone company, and I was waiting to hear a call back from them, so I decided to help for that weekend. By the show’s end, the team offered me to work with them in the following gem show in Philadelphia. I couldn’t believe the opportunity that they gave me. It felt too good to be true, considering I had only met the team for a few days; plus, I was still settling into a new apartment with my sister, so I turned it down and asked them to let me know when they would be back in the next Denver show.
A few months passed, and I was working for that same phone company as my sister when I got a phone call from the Gem and Mineral company- They asked if Jessica and I could help with the New Jersey Gem show. I couldn’t believe it. We were not going to pass on the opportunity to work and travel together. At 19 and 21 years old, we were traveling to New Jersey for work! We took the risk of quitting our job to help at the gem shows full time! Not knowing what to expect, we knew this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. We took a risk but followed our intuition.
Jazmin, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi! My name is Jazmin. In my early years, I learned to live life to the fullest. Having to experience one of my parents’ deaths at the age of 3 and not having your modern family up-ringing reminded me to do just that. Although a tragedy, it was one of the biggest challenges in life I overcame. My grandparents taught me always to leave a positive impact on the ones who I come across. Seeing my grandpa disabled and still manage to get up every day to work and make his money was my example to follow as an entrepreneur. The struggle kept me disciplined and reminded me that I was responsible for my future and success. With this in mind, Vive-Perspective is a brand and organization co-created by my loved ones, friends, and acquaintances I have made throughout my journey. The word “Vive” in Spanish means to live, and “Perspective” represents that we each have our unique point of view. You can learn a lot by giving someone the time of day and understanding one another. Vive Perspective attempts to provide a different perspective on your everyday life. Although there are hard times, you can control how you respond and react to things. Our jewelry brand allows us to share a perspective of nature and energy with style. A jewelry piece can mean many things and make you feel and look stunning!
So I leave you with our motto, Live life to the fullest!
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The goal is to help and inspire everyone who comes across Vive-Perspective. Each jewelry piece is created with a message/reminder to keep pursuing your dreams and goals. We hope you continue the path that makes you happy. The mission is to grow a community of mentors/influencers to help our young ones expand their creativity and help them live their best life, one gemstone/jewelry piece at a time.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
My sister Jessica is co-founder of Vive- Perspective. She is the definition of Vive, the risk taker who constantly reminds me of the “you only live once” vibe. Taking a risk to quit our jobs and work full-time traveling the U.S. back in 2017 was when our brand Vive-Perspective was co-created. Although we did not pursue selling handmade jewelry right then and there, we were living the lifestyle of Vive-Perspective. We had a gem show in Oklahoma that year. We were out at a local bar, and we were both in awe that we were together and traveling the U.S. We knew we were where we needed and wanted to be at that time. With so much life to live and learn, we continue to grow and make ourselves happy while traveling and seeing new places we didn’t know we would get the chance to see together.
