We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jazmin Gresham a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jazmin, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
From 2017-2019, every month I would travel to another city or country to get my nails done and Insta-storied my process. Everyone already new me for my nails and would have so many questions about my process, how I was able to wear long nails, how d you go to the bathroom lol, etc. So I said why not take my viewers on my nail journey and vacation!
While vlogging my experience and travels, I was also preparing for grad school – which thankfully did not work out, lol! Next I know, I’m sitting at my kitchen table thinking about attending Beautycon LA wishing there was a convention for nails and I said to myself “I would call it NAILCON!!”. From there, the light went off and it was on! LOL!!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
A Chicago native with a 20yr affinty for nails, I’ve established her career in Luxury Fashion & Digital Creative Production. With my nails being instant conversation, I started vlogging her nail sessions providing education & awareness.
Realizing the lack of community & safe space, I made it my mission to combine my passion for nails & professional background to create the next beauty editorial platform, NAILCON.
NAILCON is a beauty and lifestyle media platform centered on nail culture and community. We also curate and host beauty activations from gallery exhibitions, virtual conferences to editorial dinners with the most elite and premium brand partnerships including the nail industry, technology and spirits.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Yes! As everyone else, I had to quickly pivot my business at the start of COVID.
In 2019, NAILCON initially started out hosting parties in Brooklyn and had our first activation December of 2019 for Art Basel Miami with the Dream Hotel then boom COVID hit! Being home, everyone was trying to figure out how to remove gel polish and acrylics, people wanted to know what products to use and where to get it from and I said “ok, it’s time to start NAILCON Media” not knowing a thing about media but knowing I needed to connect to my audience virtually and be of service.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What helped build the NAILCON reputation was and is spending time connecting with different nail artist regardless of level and status while being collaborative and transparent. With curating so many events and activations, I’ve been able to bring these nail artist on as NAILCON Brand Ambassadors, connecting them with brands, exposure and financial opportunity.
