We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jazmin Anderson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jazmin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the story of how you went from this being just an idea to making it into something real.
I started my business idea venture in February, 2015. The idea came to me while I was working for other well established companies like ESPN Radio, Yahoo Sports Radio to name a few.
I wasn’t getting the positions I felt my contributions and skills warranted and that I felt qualified for. I was in Seattle with my friend Davies Chirwa who is the owner of Channel ATV. I had done some reporting and work for his business also. I was discussing the situation and ideas with him. I was in Seattle building content for my YouTube and website. We were going over names for the website and the channel where I would be placing my work. As we discussed names, we came up with Jazmin Television (JTV). Davies made the logo and we recorded my welcome video to JTV for my website on the green screen.
It was so exciting because I was building something in the field that I am so passionate about and love being a part of (Media).
Once I returned to Houston, I conducted and recorded interviews; traveled to conferences to gain more information about the broadcasting field.
In September 2019, I re-branded the business and changed the name to JTV ONE Network (which stands for Journey To Victory). I purchased the DBA and Later in 2020, I filed for the LLC. I bought the domain and had a colleague on my team create the website. From there I hired independent contractors part- time to fill in projects that I needed to complete.
When starting your business it’s important that you know something about the key positions that are integral to its success. However for my business I was every role, from writing scripts, articles, directing, sending emails, getting clients, photography, videography, editing, marketing, sales, you name it.
That’s how most owners start off. You lay the foundation for the idea; then you get people who can see the vision and help you build it.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Jazmin Anderson. I am a Media Proprietor, Entrepreneur, Author & a Mother. In 11th Grade is where I came to the realization of what I wanted to do in life. This revelation was based on a personality test I took in class. I discovered while sitting with myself, what I did naturally and how I could benefit financially as a bonus.
I started studying and working in the field of Media since the Age of 17. I learned by hosting talent shows and pep rally’s in high school and working on the yearbook committee. I furthered my education through Media Classes in college and attending an all Broadcasting School.
Afterwards I did internships and apprenticeships. I have worked in the Media field as a free- lance reporter and journalist for over 10 years.
I started my business ( JTV ONE Network) in 2019 officially on paperwork. I had the idea to be a solution based Media Platform with inspirational and motivational content. I wanted to bring more spotlight to people who are the heroes in their communities and business leaders who are making positive history.
My focus is on Creating Shows, Movies, Workshops, Courses and Events that advance the human empowerment to really be the best that they can be; To not only be informed but have the information to perform and execute the information which enhances their circumstance and get them to their own self fulfilling success.
Today JTV ONE Network has been the go to source for uplifting and empowering events. Whether the Network is putting on the event or hosting the red carpet at another extravagant event.
The JTV ONE interviews are always focused on uplifting and inspiring the viewer, to help them learn and grow from watching a clip. I am looking forward to the completion of the Network’s App which will be launching soon.
I am proud to see the continued growth and recognition taking place. This year I have been recognized by the City of Houston, The State Representative & The House Of Congress. In December 2022, I will be receiving the “Presidential LifeTime Achievement Award”. I’m truly Grateful.
You have to be stubborn about your vision. “Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. Do not let your fear of failure hold you back from achieving your vision.”
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Yes, I have had a lot of life challenges happen; and the most important thing is to pause if you need to recharge and regroup… but don’t stop. Sometimes you feel like giving up when things are not going as fast as you see them working for others.
It was important that I continued to tell myself that I am running my own race and I’m on a journey that best fits me. Especially when you see people who try to copy what you’re doing and they have never shared their intentions with you or you haven’t seen them in your field. Suddenly, after you share your idea and how your business is growing, they hasten to emulate you.
I admit it’s not flattering and can make you get upset, but I had to remember that it’s a great thing to inspire someone.
After all, Inspiration and Empowerment is what I promote. Therefore, I had to look at it from a positive aspect and realize that what I am bringing to the world is my vision and my passion. Everyone was specially made one of one, unique. So if I’m inspiring others, that means I am doing something right.
So in my journey, I am continuing to push, no matter what challenges come. I must keep going until the vision is complete.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I would say networking and supporting others’ events is one thing that helped me build my reputation. Also showing that I can be trusted, while as the same time, doing things with class and integrity. I have met people and stayed in touch, while building positive relationships with them by supporting and adding value.
I have also done a lot of interviews and worked in the community for fundraising and “giving back”events. I have shared videos and photos that they can use for their brand.
I have also worked with a lot of media companies as I was building my brand and presence. In many instances, I volunteered my time to get the experience.
I always share that to get to your next level you have to (1) Pay your way (2) Serve your way or (3) Earn your way. So by me volunteering my time and building my presence in the Media, it served as an opportunity to earn a lot of my way. So now I have more than enough experience to benefit financially and have people who can back my skills and expertise, support me in my market field of Media.
