Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jaz Cotharn . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Jaz thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The most meaningful project I worked on recently was my apparel line fashion show. On March 11th in Santa Monica at the Barker Hangar my brand “Vi$ionary” showcased its third runway show. I never would’ve thought that my brand would hit a runway show and now it has unlocked many opportunities for me especially learning new things about myself, the people around me that has been there for me, and the brand itself by creating a reputation to uphold. However, the most meaningful feeling I get from the fashion show is connecting with models all over the world and networking with like minded people during the process. My brand represents lifestyle and innovative fashion and it shocks me when my models actually love the item that they’ll perform in. The feedback from the audience, friends and family has been unexplainable. As of right now I don’t have a big team and to accomplish something big like this I learned to respect my abilities even more. I plan on taking my career as designer to its maximum level. I want to thank my supporters, models, other brand designers, and the model experience platform because now I found my passion and purpose to create, coach, and design and now I can truly be myself as a career!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Let’s go back to the beginning. In 2016 I moved to LA from Chicago to begin a new life or “start” my adult hood. I worked regular jobs since I was 16 but when I moved to LA I prayed for existence and a purpose in life. A year or 2 went by and I went to barber school and became an aspiring professional barber. A couple more years later went by and I felt like there was more for me to do so I enrolled back in college to finish my bachelors degree for business management. In 2020, I’ve created my clothing brand “vi$ionary apparel brand” this idea came from my creative side in fashion and arts, however, the purpose was found through my clients. I realized people from all over the world, different ages, male or female all go through similar life goals and self development. I found myself giving a lot of advice and feedback towards various situations. Ultimately the connection with my clients and people helped me find my purpose to create my brand and close the gap of uncertainties to our daily lives. I want my brand to be like a lifestyle motivator or a reminder to keep going, push harder, and stay consistent and what better way to do it than with dope designs and high fashion! My brand is to represent how to feel good mentally and physically with fashion!

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
I do think it’s hard for people to understand to push themselves if they see others succeeding. And I want people to know that you can NOT compare your journey and path to others, if you stay focused on being consistent for you then there is no comparison or self doubt. You cannot cloud your brain with negative thoughts, start feeding your brain constant positivity abbot your self and your abilities and your passion, inner abilities, hobbies and etc will come to an existence

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me I found that truly being myself as a creator has been the most rewarding. People must know that you don’t need approval from others BUT people will accept you for exactly who you are what you do! BE YOU and not anyone else!
