We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jayzel Alconis a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jayzel thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
One of the biggest risks I’ve taken was stepping out of my comfort zone to pursue a life and career abroad. I had been working as a nurse for 4 years in a prestigious hospital in the Philippines. I was comfortable and stable—but deep inside, I felt a longing for change, for growth, for something more.
At that time, I took a leap and applied for the NCLEX, investing money into the process even though I didn’t have a clear plan. It was a bold move, especially without guidance. Around the same time, I reconnected with my now-husband, who had just completed his German language training and was preparing to work in Germany. It felt like more than coincidence—maybe even destiny.
He encouraged me to consider working in Germany too. Unlike other destinations, it was a more affordable path: I just needed to learn the language. It sounded daunting, but I was intrigued. I applied—and to my surprise, I got accepted.
That’s when the real challenge began. I didn’t tell my parents right away, afraid they wouldn’t understand or approve. I juggled full-time nursing shifts in the morning and attended German language classes at night—all in secret. My husband had already moved to Germany, so I was doing this alone, in silence, hoping it would all be worth it.
After eight months, I finally told my parents. I had made up my mind to resign and fully focus on my German application. Fast forward to today—I’ve been working in Germany as a nurse for almost 7 years now.
But as time passed, we realized something important: while we were building our future abroad, our families back home were growing older. That realization sparked a new goal—we want to return to the Philippines and live closer to our loved ones. The question was: how could we build something sustainable while preparing for that transition?
That’s when another risk—and passion—came into my life.
Since I was young, I loved art, design, and editing. But I had set those passions aside for my nursing career. One day, while browsing online, I discovered the world of digital products and Canva. It reignited a spark in me. I started wondering: Could I combine my nursing experience and my creativity to create something meaningful?
While looking through my old notes—ones I’d made while studying in Germany—I got an idea. Why not create digital resources to help aspiring Filipino nurses who want to work in Germany? That’s how my first ebook was born—nursing vocabulary guides, German-English translations, study tips, and pocket guides.
Even though I had only a small following and little experience in digital marketing, I put my work out there. To my surprise, many Filipino nurses bought my products. I realized I wasn’t just making sales—I was making a difference.
This journey—from nursing in the Philippines, to Germany, to becoming a digital product creator—was full of risks: emotional, financial, and personal. But each step has helped me grow, rediscover forgotten passions, and find new ways to help others.
I’m still new to this creative journey, but I’m excited to keep going. Even with my busy schedule as a nurse, I carve out time for this passion—because it’s not just about earning, it’s about building something with purpose.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
About Me and My Work
Hi, I’m an overseas Filipino nurse currently based in Germany, where I’ve been working in the healthcare field for nearly 7 years. While nursing is my profession, creativity has always been a big part of who I am. Ever since I was young, I’ve loved drawing, designing, and editing—but I had to set those passions aside to focus on my nursing career.
My journey into digital product creation began when my husband and I started dreaming of moving back home to the Philippines for good. We were looking for a backup plan—something we could work on and eventually build into a source of income when we return.
I’ve always been someone who takes a lot of notes, and back when I was studying, my classmates often borrowed them. I never realized those notes would one day become the foundation of something more meaningful. What started as personal study material has now grown into something much bigger.
What I Offer
I create digital products designed to help Filipino nurses who are dreaming of working in Germany. My goal is to make their journey smoother, more manageable, and less overwhelming—just like I wish someone had done for me.
Here are some of the key products I offer:
• German-English Nursing Vocabulary (Pflegewortschatz A to Z)
• A Practical Guide for Nurses Preparing for Germany
• Pocket Guides for Quick Reference (covering topics like Anatomy and Common Nursing Terms in English and German)
• Operating Room Nursing Guide, Flashcards, and Visual Study Tools
Each product is made with care, combining my experience as a nurse with the language and cultural adjustments I had to learn along the way. I know how challenging it is to move abroad—the confusion, the pressure, and the fear of starting over. That’s why my resources are practical, relatable, and made specifically for Filipino nurses.
What Sets My Work Apart
What makes my work different is that it’s personal. I’m not just creating content—I’ve lived this journey myself. Every ebook and guide I make comes from real experience, real challenges, and real lessons learned. That connection helps me design tools that speak directly to the needs of aspiring overseas nurses.
I’m also passionate about making resources that are both affordable and visually engaging. I believe learning should be simple, beautiful, and easy to access—especially for hardworking nurses who are already juggling jobs and responsibilities.
What I’m Most Proud Of
Even though I’m still new in this space, I’m proud of the impact I’ve made so far. I’ve received messages from fellow Filipinos saying my ebooks helped them understand German nursing terms better or gave them the confidence to keep going—and that means so much to me.
What began as a passion project has grown into something with purpose: to educate, empower, and inspire other nurses just like me.
What I Want You to Know About Me and My Brand
My brand may still be small, but it’s built with heart. If you’re a Filipino nurse aiming to work abroad—or simply someone who loves to learn—you’re not alone. I’ve been in your shoes, and I want to help make the path ahead a little easier.
Whether it’s learning a new language, preparing to work, or simply gaining confidence, my digital products are created to guide you step by step. I also plan to expand soon into new topics and tools, always with the same goal: to make your path a little brighter and a lot more possible.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
For me, aside from training and knowledge, the most important things for success are taking a leap of faith, being consistent, and staying hardworking.
Taking a leap of faith means being brave enough to start—even when you’re unsure of the outcome. There’s always fear and uncertainty. But sometimes, we just have to trust the process and take that first step. In Filipino culture, we often say “Bahala na si Lord”—and in many moments of doubt, that mindset has helped me keep going.
Consistency is another key. Success doesn’t happen overnight. There were many times when I felt like no one noticed my efforts, especially when I was just starting to create digital products. But I kept showing up, kept learning, and kept creating—even on days when I was tired or doubting myself.
And of course, hard work ties everything together. You will never regret giving your best shot. There’s a saying: “Hard work never betrays,” and I believe that. It’s about giving your best, even when results aren’t immediate. It’s about pushing through challenges, learning from mistakes, and staying committed to your goals—even when no one is watching.
So yes—skills and training are important. But in my experience, faith, consistency, and hard work are just as essential in turning dreams into reality.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I guess you could say my business partner is also my lifetime partner—my husband. The name of my brand is Jayzel Creatives, and what makes it special is that I combined the letters J and C to form a letter K, which is the first letter of his name. It may sound cheesy, but it’s my way of dedicating this journey to him.
Honestly, if it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t have started this at all. I was comfortable again working as a nurse here in Germany—safe, stable, and not really thinking of doing anything outside of that. But he encouraged me to get out of my comfort zone again. He’s always been the one reminding me that I’m capable of more, that I have something unique to offer, and that it’s okay to take risks.
Without him, there would be no Jayzel Creatives. He’s not just my partner in life—he’s also the reason I had the courage to turn a small idea into something meaningful.
