We recently connected with Jayvon May and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jayvon , thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I knew I wanted to pursue music when I graduated high school and couldn’t get a job.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My artist name is Ambjaay. I began creating music at the age of 19. I was born and raised in Watts, Ca. Music became my life when I couldn’t get a job.. My style is different from the rappers on the West coast. I have my own unique style. When I rap I try to make music that will have people dancing and having a good time. I’m most proud of my platinum plaque I received from my hit song entitled “UNO”. I would like to thank my fans who have been on this journey with me. I have more hit songs to share with the world. Follow me and I hope my music will influence you in someway..
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is being able to embrace my fans. Moreover, knowing I influenced a person or helped them in some kind of way is gratifying.. I appreciate every support I get. In addition to my fans ,I enjoy helping my family. My family is my source of motivation. I’m truly thankful for both my fans and family.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
There is a goal and mission that drives my creativity. The goal of creating other opportunities for me and my team.. Being able to make a difference is what I aim for.. My family is my greatest inspiration.
My mission is to help give resources to my community of Watts. Providing aide for the less fortunate is my lifelong assignment.
