We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jayson Castleberry a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jayson, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Although I haven’t reached the level of success I want, I have learned a few things along the way so far. I still have much to learn about success, but what I have learned is what will get me started on the path to success. The most important thing I have learned will be the key to my success is my mindset/mentality. You are always going to face the challenges of choosing between something you want to do and something you need to do. Staying focused and disciplined is what is going to keep you on that path towards what you want to accomplish.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into modeling after my friend sent me a couple casting for fashion shows. After my first one about a year ago, I have been modeling ever since. Since starting, I have gotten the chance to walk in shows in New York and have been published by Krave magazine twice, one of those being my own cover. I most proud of what I have been able to accomplish in this last year. It has been a great learning experience and I have made great connections along the way.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I would say my journey pursuing a modeling career so far has shown my resilience. There were many times, even from the start I could have gave up. There were a lot of ‘No’s’, empty promises, and let downs, but I didn’t let those moments take over and stop what I have been working so hard towards. I realized quitting would only stop what could have been and that any progress I made would be meaningless if I gave up right then.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn that everything would happen on-time and on schedule. I was so used to everything happening within in a certain time frame and I had to let that go. In the real world, there are an infinite, unpredictable amount of factors that will always affect the time people take to complete tasks. These situations only taught me a different lesson. Patience truly is a virtue. Worrying about when something will come only bring anxiety and self doubt.
