We were lucky to catch up with Jaynea Milhouse recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jaynea, thanks for joining us today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
I would say that my defining moment in my career is when I re-defined what success was. I always grew up believing success was based on the amount of financial gain one could obtain, all things materialistic. It was when my life took a very life altering turn in which success was redefined in my eyes.
After quitting my job as an Investigator of Child Abuse and Neglect, I started my journey of entrepreneurship with my LLC, Milhouse Morale. It began really well with major clients and massive income until one day, income was no longer flowing and all I thought to be Tru was no longer my truth. I lost my apartment, my car, and all the things and people in my life that was apart of my identity. It was then that life woke me up to my truest potential. What do you truly have when you feel you’ve lost everything? This was a question that my life’s experiences thereafter revealed to me. I was called to the tool yoga in 2019, shortly after launching my LLC. I didn’t know how badly I would need these tools of mindfulness when my life took this detour.
In 2019, I began a completely new journey in life. Although I felt like I lost everything, I learned that I always had my breath. I always had me. I found peace of mind. I found the importance of human relationships and kindness. I found love, Tru love. I found me.
It was during these moments of Tru intentional healing where I was able to redefine what success was. Success is making a way out of no way. It is being resilient and persevering through all moments of adversity. Success is having dreams and goals and walking towards them with faith. Faith knowing that you’ll reach your dreams, even if you don’t know exactly how. Knowing that with a positive mindset and determination, you begin to attract wealth and abundance into your life. The most important defining moment of success is always staying Tru to you.

Jaynea, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am from Ensley of Birmingham, Al. My mother, Shunda Milhouse, raised all 6 of her daughters in one household. I am 32 years old and third to the oldest. I graduated from PD Jackson Olin High School as class president in 2008. I graduated with a Bachelors of Social Work from Miles College in 2012. While attending Miles College, I was a member of the Honors Curriculum, Honors society, Golden Starr dance team, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. December 9, 2022, completes my graduate program at University of Alabama in Birmingham with my Medical Social Work degree. Some careers I feel people choose but this one chose me.
My very first yoga class, I was confused. I never really heard of meditation and yoga and definitely didn’t see anyone around me growing up using this practice. While living in Houston, I attended my first class and felt sore and disconnected from the practice. I didn’t understand. I went to Barnes and Nobles and was curious so I began to read and explore my own understanding.
I went back to the gym and something kept pulling me towards this space. I tried another class with a new instructor and with my own readings, became very attracted to the practice. After that, I committed to a series of challenges surrounding the topics of mindfulness. After I completed a 30 day challenge, I immediately dove into another 30 day challenge and then another. This became a practice of discipline I never knew I needed.
I provide clients with individual and group sessions of yoga and meditation. I am a Certified Life Coach, Meditation Instructor and Yoga teacher. I offer services of empowerment to those interested in waking up to their fullest potential in all areas of life: personal, love, career and home.
Services surround the topics of healing, personal development, and empowerment in order to live the life you feel you desire and deserve. In addition to services offered, I hold space for women empowerment. Fairy Empowered is a program offered to women everywhere looking for liked minded individuals seeking change. Fairy Empowered is a support group established in 2019 where we explore new challenges, engage with other women and heal through all of our worries and barriers together. I am a group facilitator leading healing workshops which have been proven to provide clarity, connection and community.
Life is all about finding self in order to live fully and authentic to who you were called to be. Let’s find your truth. We are in this together.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Whew! I’ve had to unlearn many lessons that have contributed to who I am today. As a little girl, you learn what is told to you or what is shown to you. Being raised by a single mother, I’ve witnessed times where obstacles would arise and immediate action to overcome the obstacle would take place. This immediate action came with stress, worry, and anxiety. Subconsciously, I took that same approach into my adulthood and also started feeling stress, worry, and anxiety.
So I would say that, my most valuable lesson that I’ve unlearned is the thought that when adversity is present, immediate action much also be present. I’ve learned that there is power in stillness and truly surrendering. When life hit me in all different angles and I didn’t know where to go or what to do, I surrendered. I literally did nothing. Doing nothing feels uncomfortable because we are so used to trying to figure everything out. This time, I got still. I went within. I began a new challenge. New challenges to me mean: removing something and replacing it with another. I took a 30 day challenge of eating no beef, while adding a workout ritual or removing social medias for 30 days and completing a journaling challenge for the month instead.
Surrendering to the outcome means, I release all needs of control of anything outside of myself. It means letting go and letting God. It means, doing what I can with what I have, where I am, and the rest “excuse me”, I am getting out of the way. While practicing this, it allows me peace and intentional growth and healing. All the daily practices of yoga poses, breathwork and stillness are moreso to help guide me when I walk outside and meet life off the mat. I’m better equipped to allow negativity to bounce right off of me instead of letting it in on my path with these tools.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
My most effective strategy for growing my clientele is to be my authentic self 100 percent of the time. Prior to the birth of my career, my mother gifted me the name “Tru”. It is important to me that I stay true to who I am. Staying Tru to me is very important because it’s where I hold my core values. I can feel the disrespect to myself from myself whenever I go against my truth. I’ve learned to own my no and express my Tru feelings to people even when it’s uncomfortable. I’ve learned to trust my decisions and choose what feels right for MY truth. Through many years of healing and doing the work, I practice what I preach and what I teach. Staying Tru to me comes easy now because I’ve sat with me, in order to learn me. Now, I can just be me without having to try.
The people who I’ve been fortunate to have support me have not only bought into my product or service, they’ve bought into me. Staying Tru is always my motto.
