Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jayne Chaplin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jayne, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the best thing you’ve ever seen (or done yourself) to show a customer that you appreciate them?
Customer service is key in any business. Having your customers to trust you to provide for their event, family function, or even just because means a lot. To be able to see the smile on their faces means the world to me.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I love making sweet yummy treats.
The birth of BUNDtiful Treats was created for my love and passion of making baking and the infectious smiles I see when someone takes a bite into my creations. I was blessed to have awesome cake makers in my family and was inspired at an early age to enjoy baking. I am keeping a yummy tradition alive by making tasty, delicious and mouthwatering cakes; sharing them with you.
Each Treat is made with natural ingredients, delicious flavors to choose from and made to order.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
In 2015 I was laid off from a job I just knew was perfect for me. However, I had never been so stressed out in my life. Not to mention it took pace 2 months before I got married. I was ashamed going into a marriage with no income!! Who does that?? I always knew there was more to life. It took me a year and a half to find something else. The pay wasn’t great at all. I did what I felt like I needed to do to survive and help my husband. In 2018 I decided to start my first business as a travel agent. I was always the person amongst my friends who booked everything. So, why not do something I loved and get paid for it!! But, I knew there was still more!!
In 2020 with the pandemic I was laid off yet again, I told my husband I truly didn’t want to go back and work for anyone else.
Travel wasn’t going to be enough especially during a pandemic when travel was limited. I needed to find something else to build income.
Cooking and baking are ways to clear my mind and distract myself from everything going on in the world. I started using my grandmas recipes more so as a hobby. She always brought joy to others with her desserts. i wanted to do the same.
My husband said “why not start a business”
That is what brings us here today. BUNDTiful Treats was made out of love.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I wasn’t sure of what to do to start a business. I used what I had to get started. First things first was to make it official and obtain my LLC. As far as capital was concerned I used my savings and I had others around me to invest in my business. I’m for ever grateful to each of them.
