Hi Jaymie, thanks for joining us today. How has Covid changed your business model?

During Covid, I recognized an opportunity and pivoted my business model from providing done-for-you marketing services to offering consulting and education through online courses. I made this transition after realizing that we were in a time where thousands of business owners were left with no choice but to rely on the internet and social media to continue growing and gaining new customers. I also recognized that there was a big gap in the market between business owners who wanted to hire a marketing agency but didn’t have the budget or financial means to do so. That’s where I decided to change my business model and fill in the gap. I now teach and empower other coaches, course creators, and service-based business owners how to market and scale their businesses with the power of Facebook and Instagram advertising so they don’t have to pay expensive management fees.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers?

I’m a Marketing Strategist and Consultant that helps coaches, course creators, and service based business owners generate more leads and sales using the power of Facebook and Instagram ads.

I’ve been working in the digital marketing space for 10 years now and got my start as the director of marketing at a large mortgage and real estate firm. After working there for a couple of years, I left to start my own company to help other businesses.

For the first few years I considered myself a “Jill of all trades” as I was helping businesses with everything from managing their social media, creating content, email marketing, SEO, ads, and more. Until one day, I had a client approach me wanting to test out using Facebook and Instagram ads for faster lead generation and growth. After working with the client for a few weeks, I was able to turn their $500 ad budget into 200+ leads and over $67k in new revenue for the company. That’s when I had my lightbulb moment and decided to go all in with helping other businesses use Facebook and Instagram ads to get the same results.

Fast forward to today, and I have managed over $1 million in ad spend and have helped my clients generate hundreds of thousands of leads and over $4 million in sales online. I’ve also been able to serve thousands of clients through my courses and workshops and I’m proud to have my work featured in Yahoo! News, Thrive Global, Medium, and Yahoo! Finance as one of the 10 Ad Experts To Watch in 2021.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

The biggest thing that helped me to build my reputation in my industry was becoming known for one thing. When I first started my business and was trying to get clients, I was competing with every other marketing agency and freelancer out there for business. But once I niched down and became known as the person who helps coaches & course creators generate leads & sales with Facebook ads, my business blew up. I had a flood of consistent referrals, clients were willing to pay me more, and I was able to get better results for every client because I was only focused on helping them with one thing.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

It may sound counterintuitive, but over the years I’ve had to unlearn that working harder is the secret to success.

I used to hustle 24/7 and stay up all night working on projects thinking that would make me more successful. But the reality is, while working hard is important, it’s not enough. You also have to know how to work smarter.

For me, this meant figuring out ways to leverage making more money while working less hours. Instead of spending 40 hours a week doing client work and meeting with clients 1:1, I packaged my expertise into courses and digital resources that could be sold to hundreds or thousands of people at one time. This allowed me to scale my business without having to take on more clients or work more hours.
