We were lucky to catch up with Jaylynn Juelz recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jaylynn , appreciate you joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I’m always asked this question and it still amazes me how I began and decided to make it my calling. It was during quarantine when everyone was home and left to their own devices. People needed a connection to the outside world when we were literally in confinement. I was online and bored so I decided to start pulling out my clothes and accessories and do “dress up” videos and it was like magic, from one day to the next I was trending. I went from never even having a instagram before “Covid” to 100,000 followers in less than 3 months. Needless to say I felt like I belonged. Like this is what I was meant to do. People love what I bring to their screen and I love bringing it to them. I’ve been truly blessed to work with various companies and the future only looks brighter
Jaylynn , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As a plus size model and influencer I love bringing joy and acceptance into our cyber world. I love educating people on what life is like being a plus size person. The ups and downs but more importantly, my triumphs! Everything I have accomplished is because I truly believe in what I’m preaching. That every”body” is beautiful, you just have to love yourself. I love being funny and quirky and its help built my brand. Which is why I’ve been blessed to work outside of the fashion industry. I bring my unique style, personality and humor into whatever I endorse and the companies love it.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, it’s the women who follow and interact with me that hits the most. The “omg I love your confidence” the “I love following you, you really brighten my day”.. type of messages and comments I get that really keep me going. if I can make 1 person feel better about themselves, if I can take 1 person out of their comfort zone to embrace their beauty, if I just make 1 person laugh with my antics.. then I have succeeded
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
Never give up.. if it’s truly what you want to do, the universe will move in your favor.. but you have to truly believe it.. and nothing.. I mean nothing comes easy, so putting in work is a must. Even on those days when you don’t want to, you have no energy to give, you gotta keep going. It going to pay off I promise!
