We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jaylen Moore a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jaylen , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
When SIX was canceled, it was a wake-up call. I realized I needed to do more than just act and rely on networks and studios. That push led me into producing.
Fast forward to today, I’ve produced four films, with more in the pipeline. I’m also building a bridge loan fund for films, still acting, auditioning, and juggling several other ventures. The best part? I started booking more as an actor because the pressure is off. Acting isn’t my only source of income anymore, and I bounce back quicker if I don’t land a role I want.
Once you understand the business side of this industry, you realize how many factors go into booking a part. As actors, we tend to take it personally. Producing taught me it’s not personal—it’s about giving your best and moving on. If it’s meant to happen, it will.
Producing is challenging, but I love it. It’s like a game of chess—strategy is everything. For a project to take off, so many elements need to align, whether it’s a film or TV show. That’s why I always encourage actors and writers: learn everything you can about the business. Focusing on just one thing these days makes the path harder. Not impossible, but harder if you’re not well-rounded. To thrive, you’ve got to diversify.
Life is incredible, and I’m grateful for every part of it. I balance my career with my family—my amazing, supportive wife Brittany, who’s also in the business, and our three wonderful children. Take risks, get comfortable being uncomfortable. That’s how you grow, break through, and elevate your life. If you want something, go for it! Surround yourself with positive people. No room for negativity.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
How I got into the industry:
Booked a teen soap opera that was casting locally when I lived in Omaha, NE. Sounded like fun and I went for it. Ended up booking one of the leads. It never sold but I was bit by the acting bug for sure. That director/writer of the project Tari Robinson convinced my parents to let me take a year off of college when I graduated to pursue the arts. But go to Chicago first for it was only a 6hr drive from home opposed to Los Angeles. After a year in Chicago of training at schools and acting I leaped to LA. Never looked back.
To survive I started my own personal training business as well teaching self defense, anti bullying workshops and donating time for women groups who dealt with domestic abuse. I always had my foot in the health door. Loved Kineisology, learning how the body works & how to keep it healthy and being of service to people. I always joke and say I’m in the “Double H business” HEALTH & HOLLYWOOD. Haha
I’m very desciplined. I have many practices to keep my head straight and motivated. Meditation, prayer, workouts, journaling, podcasts, books, mentors, coaches, martial arts, therapy etc…This is my personal list and never all at once but key practices that keep me balanced and positive in life.
I’m most proud of myself in two ways. One being a very involved father to my three children. FAMILY IS EVERYTHING!! Secondly I’m very proud of myself for staying alive & current in my industry for the past 23years. Always reinventing, growing, learning and exploring. To keep it health insurance where my family is fully covered alone is a massive win for me. Grateful for my work as an actor and producer. It’s a true blessing and I’m only getting started. Always elevating!
Problems:
I never use the word problem. I hate it. I say CHALLENGE. Whether I’m producing a film, helping somebody with their health, on dad duty or anything in life if someone comes to me with a “problem” I simply say…there is no problem. What is the challenge? Let’s discuss solutions and execute. This is my practice daily for myself as well.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I’ve learned that being able to pivot and flow with the Universe leads to true happiness. Sometimes you’ll circle back to your original goal, but other times, you grow in unexpected directions, discovering new opportunities that were always meant to be. You just couldn’t see them before the failure or pivot.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I believe society needs to embrace artistry as a legitimate career path. We should offer more education in schools from an early age on topics like entrepreneurship, artistry, and running your own business.
