Hi Jaye, thanks for joining us today. So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?

Social media has become a way for people to connect all across the country, the world even…comedians are no longer longer limited to have to perform in NY or LA to be seen…there are still certain opportunities that only come fun being in those cities but overall you can maintain a good comedy career almost anywhere now…

Jaye, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I started performing standup in the mid 90’s but quit after a few years when I struggled to transition from the Marine Corps…after 15 years away from the stage, I returned in 2013…I am most proud that was able to return to something I truly love…I knew I always loved it but never thought I’d find my way back to the stage again, but life has a funny way of putting you right where you need to be…

Have you ever had to pivot?

My biggest pivot was recognizing the importance of incorporating social media into my comedy career/business…it was something I’d avoided for years, but realized that people want to connect with you and it’s a great way to expand your audience…even if those people never get to see you perform live, you can still impact their lives through what you present on social media…

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

I still feel that even with social media, word of mouth is still the best way to build your base…people share things they like with their friends, family, etc and that’s still considered word of mouth despite it being through clips, content, etc
