Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jaycie, Monyca Fugate, Truelove. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jaycie, Monyca , appreciate you joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
We came up with the name We Clean after sitting down and really thinking about what we wanted our business to stand for. Our motto, “We clean with you, and for you”, felt like the heart of everything we wanted to offer.
We knew we didn’t just want to be another cleaning company. We wanted to create something inclusive and supportive, because let’s be real, sometimes you just need someone to body double or “parallel clean” with you to get things done.
So, we chose a name that reflects exactly that. We Clean means we’re here to help however you need, whether that’s taking the reins or teaming up with you. And since everyone’s needs are different, our services are totally customizable to fit each client’s unique situation.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Monyca: (You might recognize the rainbow hair!)
“I grew up in Cameron, MO, just about an hour outside of Kansas City. These days, when I’m not working, you’ll probably find me behind a camera capturing special moments or flying through audiobooks like there’s no tomorrow. I’m married, and our home is full of pets, which keeps life fun, loud, and a little chaotic, in the best way.
Cleaning isn’t just a job for me, it’s something I genuinely love. There’s a deep sense of calm and accomplishment that comes from transforming a space, and I’ve seen firsthand how much a clean home can improve mental well-being. That’s a big part of why I’m so passionate about We Clean.
I jumped fully into the cleaning industry in December 2023 and haven’t looked back since. I even brought Jaycie along for the ride not long after—and together, we’ve built something we’re incredibly proud of”
Jaycie:
“I was born and raised in Oak Grove, MO, in a big family full of siblings, so I’ve always been comfortable with a little noise and a lot of togetherness. When I’m not running the business, I’m usually out in nature with my pop-up camper, soaking up the sun, swimming, kayaking, or floating the day away. I’m married, and at home, I’ve got two playful dogs and a quirky cat who keep life fun and unpredictable.
Creating We Clean was the perfect way to blend two things I care deeply about: helping others and supporting mental well-being.
I got into the cleaning industry in July 2024 when Monyca asked me if I wanted to work with her. After spending some time cleaning side by side, we realized we made a great team and decided to take the leap and build something of our own.”

In fact, when we first started this business, we thought about the times we wished we had someone to step in, whether it was after a long week, a rough season, or just when things felt too overwhelming. That’s the heart behind what we do: to be the helping hand we once needed ourselves.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
Funny enough, we didn’t meet through cleaning, we actually met while working from home for Farmers Insurance! We’d unknowingly been on the same team for about six months before realizing it. One day, we both posted that we’d be moving to the same new department, started chatting, and quickly discovered we lived just 10 minutes apart.
Once we were in the same department, we started having “Work-Together Fridays,” which quickly became one of the best parts of the week. About six months later, we were both moved (again!), this time to the same team in yet another department.
Even when Jaycie left the company a few months before Monyca, our friendship stuck, Fast forward about a year and a half, and We Clean came to life, built on trust, shared values, and a whole lot of laughs from our Farmers days.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Honestly, the biggest thing that’s helped us grow We Clean is good ol’ word of mouth. We didn’t dive into big marketing campaigns right away; we started with social media pages, which were mostly followed by friends and family when we first kicked things off. We’ve had a little fun running giveaways and challenges to get the word out, plus we leave business cards at front desks of apartment buildings or after move-out cleans—just in case the new tenants need a little cleaning help too!
We’re so excited about how far we’ve come since going full-time in October, and we’re looking forward to what’s next in this crazy, rewarding adventure!
