We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jay Zuck a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jay, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Almost every entrepreneur we know has considered donating a portion of their sales to an organization or cause – how did you make the decision of whether to donate? We’d love to hear the backstory if you’re open to sharing the details.
Livin’ Out Song Lines For A Cause
The mission of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA) is to provide support, services, and education to individuals, families, and caregivers affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias nationwide, and fund research for better treatment and a cure.
At The Joint we honor and celebrate The Harpoon G.O.A.T. Greg “Fingers” Taylor, a legendary musician affected by Alzheimer’s. Fingers is an American harmonica and blues artist best known for his work with Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band. In addition to appearing on tour for over 30 plus years and on the majority of Buffett’s albums. Fingers also recorded with James Taylor, Chris LeDoux, Jerry Jeff Walker, Mac McAnally, Little Milton, Al Kooper, Jimmy Hall, Tim Krekel, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Michael Nesmith, Bo Diddley, Larry Raspberry, Debbie Davies, Don Nix and The Tams. Fingers gave his life to music and identifies with the soul and feeling of it just like all of us here at The Joint. We could not be any prouder than to honor such a musical legend and hero. Fingers was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 2011 and we are proud to give back in honor of him and every person affected by this disease.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am just a music lover who wanted to share his passion for lyrics and love of great singer and songwriters. I also wanted to have a postive impact on the world and give back to a meaningful cause. So, at The Songwriters Joint, our mission is to honor and celebrate songwriting legends from past decades and showcase up and coming talents—all while ramblin’ for a cause. We think our musical tastes are just like a pot of gumbo. A mixture of flavors and tastes all mixed together in one large pot. A little bit of folk, dash of country, rock, the blues, reggae, and gulf and western. All rooted and connected by great writing and storytelling. We are inspired by legendary musicians whose songs and stories captivated us and provided the navigational beacons of life. We wanted to create a hub for people to connect, share, and discover great artists while supporting a meaningful cause to us and to our musical heroes.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Everything we do with the business is guided by authenticity and good vibes. All of the music and everything we do comes from our love of music and wanting to give back to our favorite singer/songwriters and to a cause that is meaningful and important. We want to provide the best music content, news, and our merchandise is the highest quality. I don’t put out anything that I would not wear myself.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
We offer high quality content online and create a fun and loving music community where people can connect and bond over music. We have an amazing online community via Facebook and you can find content on our Facebook and Instagram page. As we continue to grow, we will be offering more in person meet ups and music events. Stay tuned for news about our 2025 “Sing 4 Fing” in Music City and more shows in other areas like Key West.
