We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jay Snipes a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Jay thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?

One of my most meaningful projects is hosting my podcast, “Generation Motivation: The Podcast.” The podcast focuses on highlighting those in the community using their platform to effect positive change. We all have a story and my purpose is to be a catalyst in helping those stories get told in hopes they will bless others.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I started Generation Motivation about 4 years ago. Under my brand, I produce my podcast, wrote a book, and create motivational merchandise (i.e. t-shirts, backpacks etc.). Everything falls within the motivational realm. The brand tag line is “Creating The Narrative”. The brand was birthed out of my desire to leave a lasting legacy of positive impact on society. I know that we’re all born with purpose and the sooner we walk in that purpose, the more fulfilling and impactful our lives will be. I’ve always been a creative type. I used to be an entertainment journalist back in the day, so it was a natural progression for me to write my motivational book and gradually cross over into podcasting. There is an inner peace in knowing that I am using my platform to highlight others that are well deserving of recognition for all they do, but may never be in a position to share their inspirational stories.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

My mission is simple. I want to be that person that tells you that you can make it against all odds. Not only am I going to tell you, but I’m also going to show you on my podcast via interview after interview of people from all walks of live that didn’t give up on their dreams. Doubt is the killer of all dreams. Every accomplishment starts with believing in yourself.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding part is knowing that something I create could possibly make a positive impact on someone else. You never know who your podcast, video, or product may touch and forever change their outlook on life. What is for certain though, is that if you never create it, it will never have an opportunity to make a difference.
