Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jay Plush. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Jay thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
Coincidentally, right now is an excellent time for women in hip hop. I’ve always been amazed with the genre since being introduced as a youth. I started going to the studio working with some well known producers back in 2015. I kept working on my craft but ultimately decided to take my rap career as a serious profession in 2019. I had a few friends in the music industry and we started collaborating with each other on various records. Dedicated our time to learning the business, recording more music, making music videos and going to networking events.
Jay, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a hip hop artist and songwriter. I’m very passionate about rap. I have dedicated years to my craft and I am known to bring great energy to music. I am also known for my catchy hooks and raw lyrics. As a artist/songwriter I can deliver whatever style the client is asking for. As a performer I bring great energy to the stage, always exciting the crowd . I’m dropping my first EP in 2025, so follow me on Spotify, Apple Music and all other streaming platforms for the latest drops.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
In a male dominated industry I’ve worked hard to secure my respect as an artist. Just like with any other job I’ve found myself working better with some producers than others. You just have to keep working and eventually you’ll run into someone that you work well with.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is being able to share some positive emotions through music. We’re often faced with the everyday challenges of life and I like to make music that can bring positive vibes for everyone.
