Jay, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.

I’ve always believed that creativity should be within reach for everyone. That’s why MYSTUDIO HTX is more than just a studio—it’s a space designed to empower photographers and creatives by providing cost-effective solutions in a supportive environment.

One of the things I love most about MYSTUDIO HTX is its flexibility. Inspiration doesn’t follow a schedule, so we offer booking options that let you create whenever the moment strikes. Plus, our pricing is designed to give you the most value. While most downtown studios average $75 per hour, we offer three hours for just $100—because great work shouldn’t be limited by the clock.

Jay, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I was born to immigrant parents and always believed in dreaming big. Through hard work and dedication, I’ve turned those dreams into reality.

As a self-taught photographer, I primarily shoot 35mm film and digital. To me, a great photograph should be creative, evoke emotion, and stir the soul—captured, not digitally created. My work is a result of passion, respect for the craft, and a love for time-honored photography methods.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

Building my reputation in the fashion photography market has been a journey fueled by passion, dedication, and a commitment to authenticity. This approach resonates with clients and audiences who value creativity and emotional depth in visual storytelling.

Collaborating with esteemed brands such as AVEDA, Chloe Dao, Christian Siriano, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Sofitel Luxury Hotels has expanded my professional network and showcased my ability to deliver high-quality work that aligns with my cleints needs. Having work featured in prominent publications like VOGUE, ELLE, Harper’s Bazaar, and New York Magazine, as well as on networks including ABC, CNN, Lifetime, and FashionTV also helps. These platforms have amplified my reach and credibility within the industry.

I’ve also been recognized as one of the 10 Best Fashion and Lifestyle Photographers in Houston and one of the Best Analog Photographers in the World, this has helped further solidified my standing in the market. These accolades reflect a consistent dedication to my craft and a reputation for excellence that clients and peers acknowledge. On January 1, 2018 I aslo made a commitment to collaborating exclusively with responsible and ethical entities that embrace sustainability.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

My creative journey is driven by a deep passion for authentic storytelling through photography. I believe a great image should evoke emotion, stir the soul, and stand the test of time. That’s why I embrace traditional photography methods, primarily shooting with 35mm film and digital, ensuring that each frame is captured—not artificially created.

Beyond just taking photos, my mission is to elevate fashion and luxury imagery while staying true to the craft. I aim to push creative boundaries, collaborate with visionary designers and brands, and produce work that resonates on a deeper level. Integrity also plays a key role in my journey—I’ve been committed to working exclusively with responsible and ethical entities since 2018, ensuring that my work aligns with my values.

Ultimately, my goal is to leave a lasting impact in the world of fashion photography by creating images that are not just seen but felt.
