We were lucky to catch up with Javion Hall recently and have shared our conversation below.
Javion , appreciate you joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
I first started music at 18 and in the beginning I knew making music and being a creator was something I always wanted to do but I was always hesitant. I had felt like maybe people wouldn’t like my music or I just didn’t want to be like everyone else because the pursuit of music was a trend at the time. Eventually, I had decided to just start dropping my music and showcasing my talent, the first live showcase I had ever went to was my first time ever on stage but i went for it 100%. After awhile the response I got from my music was always positive, the opportunities were at an abundance, jumping out of my comfort zone and putting myself out there was a risk but it was the risk I was willing to take. That leap of faith was the leap that opened many doors for me over the years.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Javion Hall better known As Jaydawg301 was born in Washington D.C. At the age of 2 his mother and father moved to Prince George’s County where he was raised in Oxon Hill Maryland, a small suburb outside of D.C. The inspiration of music comes from his family. Is there mission driving your creative journey?
During this creative journey my mission is to break generational curses and become a positive influence on the people that follow and support me. I’ve notice that most kids don’t listen to people that are suppose to be a positive influence like politicians, pastors, and sometimes even their parents but they listen to rappers. Watching these big artist stir the youth down the wrong path motivated me to want create a voice for myself that can grasp the ones who follow and take them down a better road.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most reward aspect of being an artist would be the freedom to express and not be judged. Another thing would be that you get to build great relationships through creating, being able to meet people from different walks of life it helps broaden your horizons and even spills over into the creative process. You find yourself being open to different styles and ideas that you never through you would look at. Finally, it would be the feeling of genuine support and love. When people don’t know you but they hear your music and gravitate to you is a wonderful feeling.
