Alright, Javenna thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.

I created a platform for local Authors to receive a payment for their children’s books called For The ❤️ Of Literacy. The children’s books were donated to the children at the free literacy community event. For me, it’s important for posterity to see local Authors and for the Authors to share their stories. It’s a Win-Win literacy event.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

I love stories. When I was younger, my mom would tell me stories that her friend Ms. Rose wrote. She would stop the stories and say it’s time to go to bed. I was so livid and would say “When I get older I’m going to write my own stories!” I had no clue I would actually do just that. LOL. I am the Author of the Learn Something Book Series. A 29 educational and inspirational children’s book series that teaches life skills and educational lessons.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

My goal is to have some of my children’s books turned into a movie. In this age of technology, there are so many ways to learn. Having my children’s books on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon etc would cater to the children that are visual learners.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

Motivating the youth and their parents is very rewarding. I have a Motivational Nursery Rhyme Song that I sing called “I Will!” This song is an interactive song that children and adults sing. For me, it is important to motivate parents because if they see another adult motivated to teach literacy than maybe they will become motivated. The ability to motivate children to learn in a fun and engaging way is imperative.
