Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Javen Moore. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Javen, thanks for joining us today. Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
Honestly, I feel like my business started at the perfect time, however I wholeheartedly believe had I stayed confident & consistent with promoting myself & my makeup artistry, I would definitely be much further right now. I would have been more organized & more discipline on my goals. Being so young, anything can blind you & throw you from your vision & I wish I would have had the ambition that I have now because I feel unstoppable & I know for a fact that God has me every step of the way.

Javen, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For those who may not know me, my name is Javen & I’m the founder of Ikea Beauty, where I specialize in professional makeup & brow artistry. My journey into beauty came in at the young age of 15, where I started wearing makeup on myself, which eventually grew into me doing makeup on others around me & the rest is history. Here at Ikea Beauty, I provide a range of services including makeup applications for all occasions & customized brow services, fitting whatever feature is best for you.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Social media. And as cliche as it sounds, it’s the honest truth. Social media is the fastest way that I put my business out there & made clients notice me as a makeup artist. With visuals & constant posting of my work & putting myself out there has helped tremendously. Along with that, word of mouth & referrals has helped also. Keeping a good face card & reputation has helped build my business to what it is today.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson that I had to unlearn is paying attention to the people who don’t support me vs. the ones who support me the most. As a business owner, you can’t focus on the negative & realize that business is business & there’s a whole world that’s willing to support you, YOU have to put yourself out there.
