Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Javari Newton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Javari, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear from you about what you think Corporate America gets wrong in your industry and why it matters.
I feel corporate America doesn’t cater to the actual people paying for and/or buying into. Whatever it is they are pushing. For example, in the industry that I am in podcasting, broadcasting, media creation, it seems like when corporate America or the industry itself finds that one thing they’re looking for they stop at that and don’t seem to see interest in others around to build something in the vain of what I am doing. A lot of what is happening today is based off of relations, and if you don’t have those people in play that could put you in the room, you don’t really have anything. Social currency is becoming more affective than the dollar.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am Javari Newton and I run a podcast studio. All of this stemmed from quarantine. I was just starting up my own podcast when a lot of my peers around me wanted to also start a podcast or YouTube show I began to collect equipment and for the first year I was working out of my home trying to figure out audio video editing what’s the best light stuff like that. I started to a massive following on Instagram and YouTube and from there I was able to build a pretty good Fanbase in the city. With all of the equipment that I had bought and all of the artist that I was talking to the running my podcast, I was able to go down to the art district and start and start building down there. Around my podcasts and four other podcasts out of a building in the art district, and we began shooting music videos for some of the artist that came on to the shows. Finding that we were growing in our team more people wanted to be a part of what you know what it is got going on so we expanded into a net work and now we have seven podcasts or YouTube shows that we push and it’s only growing. All of the shows are brought to you by hemperco we’ve been expanding into new markets and are finding sponsors and people who want to get me in on the podcast scene in Las Vegas
Have you ever had to pivot?
I feel like in business pivoting never really stops. I currently am in a pivot moment from the type of concept that I was doing before two more kid, friendly educational entertainment. I say that to say I will still be doing a lot of the contest that I was before, but Now I feel like the branding and the image of what I want to portray has changed. The latest example of that we recently got in touch with the creators of BattleBots and was able to bring a stem program to BattleBots so for adults and about 20 kids joined us a BattleBots for a destruc-ta-thon event that they hold weekly. So bringing out that program those kids was a very rewarding, feeling and a mark in what I feel will be a major mile stone for what we are known for in the future.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Building a reputation within any market is now all about social currency. It’s not so much about what you know anymore it’s about who you know and if you’re able to get into the rooms, you can know everything in the world but if you’re not able to get into the rooms with the right people, it’s hard for anyone to get their point across somewhere they’re not. So in building relationships with Artist, Dj’s, producers, and so much more in the city of Las Vegas. I’ve been able to spread my name my Podcast name my Brandyn what we stand for much further than I would have if I were not in these bubbles.
