Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jauston Carter. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jauston, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I don’t really have the most meaningful project because all of my projects are meaningful to me. The first project I made was a mixtape (music covers only) and it was a very fun project for me but it was a challenge for me because it was my very first project so it was really my introduction to everyone. I chose certain songs I love to sing and created my own version of it. Some of those covers were mashups. Where I would use one beat and sing different songs in that beat to make it more creative. I really listened and studied cover artists like Conor Maynard, William Singe, JamieBoy, and Alex Aiono and learned how music covers work. My mixtape “Romance” was a very fun and memorable project for me.
My second project was another challenge but fun for me because I had to step back from music covers and actually write my own songs and that was alot. My first album “Life Lesson” was very emotional for me because my emotions were all over the place with this project. I had fun and I really felt this project. Music covers is something I love to do and I still do to this day but my original songs is where my emotions and thoughts show.
My recent and second album “Leap of Faith” is definitely my most creative project because I did different things with my craft. I rapped, had features, and focused on other subjects. This is my first album with features so it was interesting for me. I collaborated with many talented artists. It was fun, exciting, and a challenge because I had to find different ways to change my sound and flow with certain songs.
Fun Fact: The title “Leap of Faith” came from the game franchise Assassin’s Creed. I am a big fan of Assassin’s Creed and this was definitely on my mind making the title. People who are close to me know and understand that Assassin’s Creed is my life and childhood. It taught me so much about life and history. Leap of Faith to me is having faith in God and in myself to keep pushing through, no matter how rough life gets. You gotta keep moving on, you gotta keep your spirits up, always strive to be a better you, and always have faith that life will get better. It may not be perfect. It may not be right away. But it will get better.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’ve always been a singer but I never took music seriously until I started college around 2017. I just wish I would’ve started music sooner. Maybe during high school. Singing was always in me. I just had to find that motivation and drive to do it.
It all started during my time college. One day I was scrolling through Instagram and I came across a video of two guys doing a music cover. These guys could really sing, play instruments, and make their own beats. Their names are Alex Aiono and William Singe. It was very interesting and cool to see how they did it and it made me want to try it for myself. I wasn’t hesitant, wasn’t nervous, and I never doubted myself because I knew I had the talent.
So I started practicing my singing everyday. Singing random songs I love and listen to all the time. I saved enough money to buy my own studio equipment and before I knew it, I was uploading my own music covers all over social media and YouTube. People were surprised and loved my content so I kept going. It was fun for me and it helped me improve my craft as time went on.
Over the years of being an independent artists I realized that it wasn’t just fun for me but it was therapeutic. Music really helps me get through alot of things. We are all human and we have our own stories and inner demons we battle from time to time. For me it was myself. It’s always been me vs me. Alot of times I feel like the artist side of me is a completely different person than who I am outside the studio. I put alot of emotions inside my music. Alot of my music has never been about drugs, murder, hating on people, and other negative things.
Mental health is important to me so I try to make songs that people can relate, dance, and vibe to. To me, music is emotions. That’s why I love it so much because no matter what genre you listen to, you will always find songs that you can really vibe and relate with. No matter what mood your in. Whether your happy, sad, angry, or anything. Music is the movement of life and entertainment.
I feel like what sets me apart from others is that I have a disciplined mind. And I have alot of determination when it comes to music and problem solving. I like to focus alot on mental health in my music because as humans, our mental health is one of if not the most important thing.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the memories I created with my music and videos. I want to build my music legacy to where I can grow old and look back on everything I’ve accomplished with music and smile and be proud of myself. I never was looking for fame. I was just inspired by other artists and fell in love with making music. I’ve studied and learned the pros and cons of being a famous signed artist. Really a celebrity in general. If I become famous then cool but if not then no harm done. Getting to that level is just a little bonus for me. Being able to do what I do now is already a blessing itself.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I already had alot of close friends and family members following me on social media so almost everytime I’d post new music or anything of that nature they would share it to others. I also promote myself in different ways to gain my following.
The advice I would give to those starting to build their social media presence is to be true to yourself. Never let other people and social media cloud your mind to make you be someone your not. Stay positive and any negative feedback you get just take it as motivation to be not better than everyone else but to be better version of yourself. Improve your craft, practice, teach yourself, learn from others who do it professionally, take note of constructive criticism, but always remember to give yourself a break. We are all human and we have to understand that physical and MENTAL health is important. MENTAL HEALTH IS IMPORTANT. No matter what, people will always have something to say, whether it’s positive or negative.
Just keep grinding, be yourself, and keep doing and posting what you love to do. Eventually you’ll see who really loves you for who you are and those will be the same people that’ll support you through your journey. The type of content/career your doing online just be sure it’s something you love and something you want to do. Never just do it for the money, clout, and attention.
