We were lucky to catch up with JaToya Lanisha recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi JaToya , thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.

I knew that I wanted to be a photographer when I was the friend that enjoyed getting the best shots of my friends from my cell phone. I decided that I wanted to get a “real” camera. So I did and started shooting family and friends.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Hello, My name is Jatoya and I am a photographer in Greenville, SC. I specialize in branding photography for small business owners and creatives. I’m a branding photographer specializing in creating headshots that make you look amazing. Whether you need a headshot for work or even to share on social media, I’ll capture the essence of your personal brand and help boost your confidence. I also handle team photos and event photography. I truly take the time to get to know my clients and understand their vision. I love seeing other business owners invest in their business and succeed.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

The most rewarding aspect is being able to bring the vision of my clients to life. I love being able to use my imagination and creativity to capture the true essence my clients. I find it super rewarding to have one on one time for the client to be the center of attention and enjoy being celebrated.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

I have built my audience by being authentic, kind, and friendly. I like to engage with my friends and followers. I really love posting motivational content and highlighting the success of my clients. I love that I have job that allows me to be myself and celebrate my creativity. I think that you should work on your brand message (what do you stand for), post consistently, and always respond to comments/messages.
