Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jasper M. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jasper, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Jaiko Magazine was established to provide a safe space for incoming brands to present themselves to the industry. What set us apart is that Jaiko Magazine is a platform for NEW public figures from aspects of fashion and beauty. The majority of top media companies focus on celebrity brands and brands that make a certain amount of sales each month or go viral across the internet for doing something out of the ordinary. We care more about the passion and effort that goes behind the brand.
In addition, Jaiko Magazine has established a Non-Profit organization to pour back into the creative flow of building brands, The We Art Corporation is dedicated to assisting the next generation of youth fashion and beauty leaders ages 16-25. We’re currently only in the State of Georgia but we look forward to expanding in the future to allow more students an opportunity. Our mission is to educate students on the reality of the fashion and beauty industries. Each year we host a career discussion panel bringing forth current and emerging leaders to discuss their career path from lessons learned to where they are going. The panel’s mission is to guide and encourage the youth before they enter the career path of their choice to avoid common mistakes and educate them on the reality of each industry. We also host community give-back like Back-to-School and assist with Prom and Graduation.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Jaiko Magazine is a publishing company for new public figures from aspects of fashion and beauty. This company was established in 2018 shortly after I resigned from the beauty salon to discover my purpose. The idea was developed when I became a production makeup artist for fashion events in different cities starting in 2017. In the midst of traveling, I obtained a passion for journalism. I have the desire to expose brands that have a meaningful purpose. My mission for the company is to share stories of talented people from big and small cities who aren’t often heard of to inspire.
The We Art Corporation is a 501c3 Non-Profit Organization dedicated to assisting the next generation of youth fashion and beauty leaders founded by Jaiko Magazine in 2019. The We Art Corporation offers education from industry professionals, fundraiser events, and community give-backs. The purpose of the We Art Corporation is to provide one $1,000 scholarship each year in the month of August to financially assist a student through school and/or their business.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
In the beginning, Jaiko Magazine wasn’t what it is today. I was young and still trying to figure myself out. We went from a lookbook to a website site articles and a few print publications. We’ve now become more particular about brand image and what we want to provide our clients. What we’ve noticed social media and real life are not the same. You’d be surprised at how many of your favorite influencers are actually scammers. We’re a company that likes to get a feel of what brands and the person behind them are really like. A picture can LOOK perfect but the story behind it is what really matters to us. The strategy we use is to get to know brands IN PERSON first before collaborating with our company.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Our main source for new clients is Fashion Week. Fashion Week was created to bring brands together to present themselves to an audience. The main industry focuses mainly on the fashion capitals like New York City, Paris, and Miami. We’re a company that searches in smaller unrecognized locations around the world.
