Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jasper Alford. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Jasper, thanks for joining us today. Have you ever had an amazing boss, mentor or leader leading you? Can you us a story or anecdote that helps illustrate why this person was such a great leader and the impact they had on you or their team?
Teyana Taylor has/is the best mentor I have ever encountered. She’s the type of creative that believe in other creatives and don’t believe in “I can’t do it” because everything is possible if you can think of it. There’s a time in my life where I felt like people didn’t believe in me as a creative anymore from the lack of support from my community, but when I got introduced to The Aunties and Teyana Taylor things changed for me as a creative. I gained knowledge, courage, and guidance and that’s what I needed in order to succeed. Thanks to her pushing me I know I can do anything that I think of.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Honestly I didn’t expect to get into the industry the way I did. One day on my last day of my art show a friend had came to me and asked me did I want to be a P.A for Teyana and I said of course. He called me the next day told me to pull up and it all started from there. I meant an individual that believed in my friend and myself and wanted us to join the team and we did. Next thing you know Teyana saw the potential and decided to push my creativity even further. After that I’ve been able to create beyond my dreams and I love it. Never walk into anything thinking you know it all when you can learn more. I’m more of a problem solver creativity when it comes to working with others. I like to sit in the meetings and figure things out before the meeting is over have a blueprint already do worked on or done moving fast is the key and you should never feel like you are less because your job always matter. I would say if you want to step into the field stay grounded, believe in yourself, know who you are and enjoy the moment.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I knew about making a LLC or something before I started working on anything. Having a LLC/business is what everyone should do because you can get a lot done and protect yourself at the same time. Learn things about business there’s always something to learn and that was my biggest mistake.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Never quit, when things get hard you don’t just let go and give up, you fight for what you worked hard for. Speak up and say what’s on your mind it will go so far. People respect you more for speaking your mind then being quite. Always be the student and teacher and you will advance.
