We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful JASON SORIA. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with JASON below.
JASON, appreciate you joining us today. Alright – so having the idea is one thing, but going from idea to execution is where countless people drop the ball. Can you talk to us about your journey from idea to execution?
I started by just diving into it. When I was 15 I had a Canon T2i. An entry level DSLR Camera. I loved the camera and I would use it any chance I could. One day during the Covid era I grabbed my camera, went to my friends baseball game, and started to shoot some pictures. After that game I realized I liked sports photography. I went home, hopped on Adobe Lightroom and started to edit the pictures I had took to the best of my abilities at the time. After editing, I sent the images to the players on the team and they all loved them.
The next couple months after that I focused on understanding my camera. I learned what the shutter speed, ISO, and aperture all do and how I can balance them to shoot the perfect image. I practiced shooting more sports images at my high school sporting events and quickly started to pickup more on how it all works. I spent half of my time on YouTube learning and the other half practicing.
JASON, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Jason Soria, I am a Sports Photographer & Videographer. I specialize in working with sports teams/programs and providing them with images that show the intensity of the game, along with the emotions of the athletes. My editing style sets me apart from others. I like to make the colors pop and show the contrast and clarity in my sports images.
I got into Sports Photography when I was 15. At the time there was a lot going on in the world with Covid and everything. I had always liked photography and cameras in general but one day I decided to take my camera to my friends Baseball game and after that I knew what my new favorite thing to do was.
I provide in-games sports images for sports teams, parents, coaches, organizations, etc. Another thing I specialize in is creating sports hype and promotional videos and. These are great for stadium video boards as well as social media to promote the team and their season. The main problem I solve for my clients through my images is by capturing a memory in a way that freezes the action and emotion so that you can always have that image to look back on and remember that memory.
I’m mostly proud of my brand because I started it from scratch with a simple idea in mind and a camera in my hand. I realized that I can money by doing something I love. Its an awesome feeling when you can work for yourself and earn money by working on your passion
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
I have 2 main ones. Firstly word of mouth is a huge source for new clients. If you do a good job on the service you are providing to your client, they will most definitely recommend you to their friends and peers. No doubt about. If you are good at what you do and your client appreciates the service you gave them they will be eager to help find you more work weather its by telling their friends directly or even sharing it to their social medias. This way more people can find out about you and what you have to offer and it will help you obtain new relationships and work.
Secondly, email Is another great source of finding new clients. It’s professional while still being direct. I personally love it. I reach out to new people in my area at least once a week offering my services and explaining what I do. Its a great way of building relationships with potential clients.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I keep In touch with clients mainly through Instagram DM’s or text messages. Keep offering your services even after you completed your first project for them. Chances are they might need your services again but they haven’t reached out yet. Take the initiative and ask how you can help them.
