Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jason “six O’clock” Trevor “jus-1”. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Jason “Six O’clock” thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Currently besides the music we are releasing we just completed our second year of “Mile High Cool Day”. A Community event we put on at Angelo’s CDs & Vinyl in Aurora. The city Insomniaks was birthed in. The event the past two years have given away nearly 60 backpacks and supplies to local area kids. The day also has a concert with talent from all around the state. We raffle off bikes, skateboards and music bundles. This event will be back in 2025 for a third year, and we hope to double up on the numbers. This is currently our passion project to give back to the community that raised us.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Insomniaks is a loose hip hop collective that has six original members and started recording music in 1996 on a 4track recorder. Since that time Insomniaks has morphed into various versions of itself but has always been pure underground hip hop. The group has released 7 full length albums, 2 mixtapes and are currently in the studio working on another LP for 2025. Insomniaks and its members have travelled and toured throughout the region and continue to make noise 25+ years later. We are blessed to still have avenues to explore and keep diving deeper into the art of rhyming and performing live to energetic crowds after all these years. We are blessed.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The goal and the mission have always been to create a lasting legacy. We never wanted to hop in and hop out we always wanted to make music that connected with people and could stand the test of time. We are still performing songs that are 10+ years old and it’s because they resonated with people on higher level. We learned to fall in the love with the process of creating and making albums and art. In addition, the plan is to leave it all on the table get every ounce of creativity out of us before we say goodbye.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of being an artist is getting to perform the music live after the release of a new project. Getting those reactions and people engaging with the art is the best. Although we all create whether the music will ever reach the right ears or not because hip hop is just a part of us. We don’t do this for monetary gain or like and shares we do it because we love the artform and the reactions and love from the fans is the bonus and still is a high that we can’t describe.
